Spunk and Moxie Review
You've got to feel bad for the janitors in video games. I know I wouldn't want to be the one to mop up the slimy warehouse floors after Spunk and Moxie have made their way through. Spunk and Moxie is an unforgiving platform and running hybrid game that moves at a lightning-fast pace, and puts your every reflex to the ultimate oozy test. It's funny; I always thought ooze was supposed to be slow!
Motor Town: Soul of the Machine Review
In Motor Town: Soul of the Machine, you step into the role of a New York City reporter seeking her big break by way of an interview with a brilliant but reclusive inventor of some of the world's first automobiles. But he doesn't just make cars; he believes that cars, like people, have souls, and while the reasons for, or significance of, that belief is never explored, the fact that he's such a weirdo apparently makes him a worthwhile subject. It's a perfectly competent hidden object adventure, but really just not all that terribly interesting.Grudger Review
From the spectacular pratfalls of Lara Croft onward, a certain sect of gamers have harbored a twisted obsession with watching their player characters perish in sloppy clumps of ragdoll chaos. We never meant to miss that leap, of course, and we hurl curses into the wind at our momentary loss of progress, but we are entertained, at least slightly, by the outcome. The developers of Grudger took that theme and ran with it.
Rock Runners Review
2012 was the year that one-touch running games really came into their element, with numerous developers really pushing the boat out, exploring new and fiendish elements that made previous runners look shallow and empty in comparison. The question is, what do running games need to do to take it just that little bit further and make 2013 the year of the mobile runner? Rock Runners definitely has a keen eye for what the genre requires, especially when it comes to controls and presentation, but it doesn't particularly innovate or provide anything we haven't already seen.
Enchantia: Wrath of the Phoenix Queen Review
It's been 500 years since the Phoenix Queen was called to the realm of Enchantia to do her thing - and her thing just so happens to be scorching the land with fire, eradicating all life in the blink of an eye. According to her it's a righteous duty, but those whose lives are in danger are of a slightly different opinion.
Dragon Storm Review
A literal storm of dragons would be pretty dangerous. So we're lucky there isn't such a thing, even if the graphics that meteorologists would use to depict it in the 10-day forecast would be pretty cool. The iOS game Dragon Storm, conversely, is a real thing, made by Griptonite and Glu Games as a multiplayer fantasy builder and battle game. It also looks pretty cool, but the gameplay doesn't live up to the high bar set by its visuals.
Sela the Space Pirate Review
As if we weren't already worried enough about sea pirates every time we go on a cruise, or Internet pirates whenever we post that sure-to-be hit video on the web, it seems that now space isn't even safe from a pirate's dastardly influence. Sela the Space Pirate is a frantic top-down space shooter with a serious steampunk attitude, and has you shooting and looting everything on this side of the stars.
Arlo’s Adventure Review
Wizarding can be a rather precarious occupation. The perils associated with being a magic user are nothing short of terrifying when you think about it -- gnarly beasts after you, other wizards challenging you to wizard-offs, all that good stuff. But what were to happen if you lost everything that actually marked you as a wizard -- namely, your powers. Poor Arlo of Arlo's Adventure has fallen victim to just that, and it's up to you to help him make things right.
