Dumb Ways to Die Review
By Nadia Oxford
When you get right down to it, survival is still a struggle in our seemingly clean, modern world. Sure, our ancestors would become lunch if they couldn't outrun a sabre-tooth tiger, but they didn't have to contend with trains, cars, or dumb dares put forth by their friends. Dumb Ways to Die is an iOS collection of mini-games that reminds us how easy it is to lose a test of strength and speed versus a subway.9th Dawn Review
9th Dawn recalls an earlier era of CRPGs when Ultima and Wizardry were king. Its open exploration, freeform questing, and massive amounts of treasures to discover combine to create one of the most ambitious adventures available on mobile devices today. With classic gameplay balanced by modern updates, 9th Dawn is a sublime treat for both newcomers and nostalgic veterans of the genre.Supreme Heroes Review
By Rob Rich
Pretty much everybody loves superheroes. Well, except for super villains I suppose. About the only thing people love more than talking about their favorite heroes is creating their own. I mean, let's face it: "What's your favorite super power" is a fairly common question in any age group. So along comes Supreme Heroes to give iOS gamers the chance to create their own personal do-gooder with their own look and special abilities. Unfortunately, the experience is rather flat.Kyubo Review
Kyubo begins with our eponymous protagonist chained to a dungeon wall, unsure of how or why he's there. Despite an appearance that should indicate an affinity for dungeons—Kyubo is either a reverse skeleton or a man in a bondage suit—our confused hero quickly frees himself with a nearby key and begins searching for a way out. His journey outside will require platforming, puzzle-solving, and patience, but it's an escape well worth making.Cubemen 2 Review
By Mike Rose
Last year's Cubemen put an intriguing spin on the tower defense genre, by allowing players to essentially position units around a blocky map and wait for the enemy to come knocking. With Cubemen 2, developer Three Sprockets hasn't exactly shaken up the original release, nor has it hindered the tried and tested formula.Bridgy Jones Review
"If the gameplay resonates with you" is one of the more maligned phrases in game reviewing. It's a cop out, like defining a word using the same word; but in some cases, like this one, it's just unavoidable. So, if touch-based bridge building resonates with you, then you might like Bridgy Jones.ScribbleMix Review
When Draw Something was released last year, its impact was unlike any mobile or social game before it. The game featured no competition, no scoreboard, and no achievements. Two players drawing pictures for one another was enough to make the game feel more social than most social games before it. Now, Disney has entered the drawing game space with ScribbleMix, which takes that simplicity of Draw Something and adds its own style. It lacks some originality, but it still manages to feel fresh and fun.House of 1000 Doors: Serpent Flame Review
By John Anthony
Giant snakes are destroying the world. No, seriously, they are! They hid deep within the Earth for centuries, waiting for the right time to attack. That time is now, and the only one who can stop them is a young woman named Kate, who has a nice leather jacket. House of 1000 Doors: Serpent Flame doesn't pull its punches when it comes to story or gameplay, and you'll find it's every bit as epic as the title suggests.
