Polygon Storm Review
Polygon Storm, the intergalactic geometry dodger from Glass Knuckle Games is a pretty interesting concoction. First try to imagine a minimalist's take on the "bullet hell" genre. Now strip away the bullets (yes, even your own), throw a little bit of Asteroids into the mix, and replace your starship with a vanity mouse cursor from some old shareware disk. Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself with that last bit. Those sparkly contrails emanating from the rear of your craft are one of many unlockables granted as you play. As a matter of fact, the entire game is built on a foundation of unlockable content, and I mean this quite literally.Namariel Legends: Iron Lord Review
By Brandy Shaul
Namariel Legends: Iron Lord has a rocky start, as its soft, blurry graphics don't offer a promising environment for exploration. But once the game begins, however, players are launched into a fairly tense journey to save our hero's uncle from the clutches of a robotic overload and his mechanical minions. Namariel Legends: Iron Lord isn't a perfect experience, but while the game suffers from some technical issues, it's still pretty fun where it counts.7 Grand Steps Review
By Andy Chalk
The circle of life; the wheel of time; the world goes 'round: they all apply to 7 Grand Steps, an absolutely fascinating strategy game that follows the long legacy of a single family over many generations and centuries, as it struggles to uplift itself from the humblest of beginnings to the upper echelons of power in the ancient world. More board game than video game, it's a slow and thoughtful look at the cycle of life and the machinations of history - and it will very likely ensnare you for hours. After Earth Review
By Alex De Vore
Did you know that Will Smith summertime blockbusters have opened number 1 at the box office for something like, 75 years in a row? Yup, it's true. Even the dreadful Wild Wild West did well with moviegoers, but sadly, that streak has ended with the recent After Earth: an original story by Smith starring the man himself and his son, Jaden. The M. Night Shyamalan-directed vehicle—which has faced allegations of subtle Scientology propaganda— opened to low numbers recently, so is it really a surprise that the licensed iOS game would be similarly disappointing? Nope.Scurvy Scallywags Review
By Nadia Oxford
Veteran swashbuckler Ron Gilbert knows a thing or two about pirates. He created the classic PC game The Secret of Monkey Island as well as its successor, LeChuck's Revenge. Sometimes, though, a sea-dog needs to dock in a different harbor. Aside from its pirate theme, Scurvy Scallywags, a match-3/combat game for iOS, is a bit of a departure for Gilbert and his partner in crime, Clayton Kauzlaric. Happily, it's a fun game that boasts the charm of a siren chorus.Kingdom Rush: Frontiers Review
By Joe Jasko
Hopefully, you've been able to pull yourself away from your favorite tower defense game for a minute or two in the last few weeks, to know that Kingdom Rush is back with a brand new sequel called Kingdom Rush: Frontiers, which brings us more of the same fantastic tower defense gameplay, while throwing in some new ideas as well along the way. So pick your hero, choose your towers wisely, and get ready to defend against all of the frontier's fiercest foes, in another excellent installment of this quickly growing franchise.Total Domination: Reborn Review
By Leif Johnson
Maybe I'm missing something. When I picked up Total Domination: Reborn, I suppose I was expecting features that warranted such a lofty subhead; features like a host of new units, real-time battles, and other assorted goodies that would distinguish it from its web-based progenitor. No such luck. Instead, what we have here is much the same juggle of city building and battle strategy that's already attracted thousands of satisfied players, all handsomely repackaged and redesigned for release on mobile devices. All in all, if you're into social strategy, that's not necessarily a bad thing.Color Zen Review
There's a growing tendency towards abstract, single-serving gameplay that is beginning to define the casual gaming space. As the ultimate renditions of pick-up-and-play, entries like Hundreds, Mosaique, and Blendokuhave dropped shiny gems and cutesy creatures for the sake of simplified, streamlined, and perfected puzzle mechanics. Although not a genre definer alone, Color Zen is a worthy addition to their shapely ranks.
