The FIFA World Cup comes around every four years, and it's no surprise that a whole host of football-related merchandise and products follow it - some a little more unusual than others. Soccer Cup Solitaire is definitely a strange arrangement, mixing the classic pair-matching card game with "the beautiful game."
If you're not familiar with the Bible, let me get you up to speed on a little chapter called Genesis. According to the good book, God created everything you see - the earth, the sky, the moon, the sun - in only 6 days. Now it's your turn. Can you start with the building blocks of creation and create everything we know? Doodle God is a wonderfully unique little game that's all about creating the basic elements of our world, and it's nothing like anything we've ever played before.
Fans of the classic board game Risk were delighted earlier this month when they heard their favourite game of world domination was coming to the iPhone, but why wait for the officially licensed version when you can get your global conquest fix now? Blood & Honor is a new release that joins the legions of Risk-alikes on the iPhone, and it's just as much fun as we'd hoped for.
Over the last few years a number of world domination board games have taken up residence on Apple's popular iDevices. Whether it's the consistently popular Lux DLX for the iPhone, the recently popular Dominion HD for the iPad, or the recently released Blood & Honor for both, the App Store has seen no shortage of board games for backyard Napoleon's. And yet despite all of these titles that borrow their gameplay from it, no one has thought to bring the game that started it all to the iPhone - until now.
You gotta fight... for your right... to pooooooker! This isn't the first time we've seen the supremely popular board game Carcassone hit a digital platform. The game saw release on Xbox Live back in 2007 and met with critical acclaim. Now the tile placing game is dipping it's toe into digital waters a second time with the recent release on the iPhone. Personally, I really wanted this one to be good. Cue sigh of relief, because this game is better than good - it's outstanding.
Roll Through the Ages is often brought up when suggesting really good board games to people. It's so popular in fact that board game fans were incredibly excited when the iPhone version was announced. It's finally here, and while not exactly a household name , this app has a high standard to live up to. Luckily I can report that the iPhone version has no problem reaching this high watermark.
Puzzle Chess is a bit of a misnomer. It's not really a puzzle game and it's only barely like chess. For the life of me however I couldn't think of a better way to describe it. It's a game that certainly take a different approach to incorporating chess into the mix. While different is always appreciated however that doesn't always make it great. Puzzle Chess seems to just straddle the line between ok and good.
