Asguaard Review
Asguaard is a throwback to the 16-bit days of console gaming, evoking classics like Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger with its sprite-based graphics and turn-based RPG battles. As a game for fans, Asguaard offers players an intriguingly self-aware plot that takes place in a memorable world that's stuffed full of secrets to uncover. A terrible winter creeps over the world of Asguaard after some unknown power opened the Pandora Box, threatening the dwarves and fairies with annihilation if the legendary humans they've summoned from another world cannot save them.
Settlement: Colossus Review
Settlement: Colossus takes the hidden object genre and fuses it with a strategy game to create something wholly unique in the space. Instead of finding random objects, your tasked with collecting resources that are necessary for survival, which makes the whole experience much more engaging. Unfortunately, it also adds a layer of unnecessary repetition that will cause some frustration in an otherwise excellent game.
Shutter Island Review
Here is some wisdom for you: the number of long, thin items a hidden object game asks you to find is directly proportional to how much that game is going to suck. Virtually every level of Shutter Island, a tie-in with the upcoming movie of the same name, has you looking for pencils, cigars, matchsticks, candles, scalpels, thermometers or icepicks. In other words, there's a whole lot of bad going on with this game.
Geisha: The Secret Garden Review
If I didn't tell you that Geisha: The Secret Garden is the first project from French developer Casual Box, you'd probably be able to guess it anyway. Games like Geisha almost always result from the blend of bold creativity and muddled execution that you see most often in first-time creators. What Casual Box has tried to achieve here is a clever reinvention of the basic match-3 puzzle game using mahjong-like tiles, a zen gardening mini-game, and Japanese-themed visuals to create a relaxing atmosphere where players pit themselves against an ever-growing flood of titles that need to be eliminated by matching them into groups of three or more.
Run Review
Running and jumping forms the backbone of most platformers out there. In fact, take the running and jumping out of your average platform title and you'll find little is left. Make it the sole focus, however, and you just might be onto something good.That's exactly what Run does from the start, handing over the simplest world imaginable and then charging you with both running and jumping to your heart's content.
Matchmaker: Joining Hearts Review
Helen Jones has a knack for helping people find that "special someone." After retiring to a small seaside community she keeps on doing what she does best: helping the townspeople find true love in Matchmaker: Joining Hearts. Unfortunately there's not much to love about this by-the-numbers hidden object game.
Air Solitaire Review
Air Solitaire is a rudimentary version of Klondike solitaire with so-so production values and no story or extras to speak of. In fact, a "flying" theme with planes and sky backgrounds is pretty much the only thing that makes this different from the free version of Solitaire that's been shipped with every Windows PC for the past two decades.
Bounce Quest Review
In many early civilizations, rites of passage were held to celebrate the coming of age of a worthy apprentice to test his skills, will and might. Bounce Quest is a puzzle game based upon a certain rite of passage involving wizards and magic where you're the one who will be put to the test. The story revolves around a wizard trainee who has finally developed enough power to be considered as a master wizard by the council elders. However, before being a full-fledged master wizard your skills must be put to the test against a real peril that's plaguing the land. Harnessing your ball of power, you have to cleanse the area of all evil, bring back peace to earn your much-deserved wizard ranking.
