Capsized Review
By Mike Rose
Why is that aliens are always depicted as these nasty, dangerous beings that will instantly lunge at any human life they catch sight of? Surely your first thought when crash-landing on an alien planet should be to worry about how you're going to get back home, rather than what beasties you need to watch out for.Storm in a Teacup Review
Storm in a Teacup is a variation of the saying "a tempest in a teacup" which really means taking a small event and blowing it out of proportion. Since it means making something out of nothing, I'm really struggling with why you'd name your game that. Good news though, the title is really the only thing about this game that's not awesome. And that's worth making a bit of a fuss over. Two Worlds II Castle Defense Review
Why, hello there, Disposable Peon #23! Welcome to the glorious career of serving in the Emperor's Guard (just ignore your predecessor's body on the floor there, we'll get that cleared out of here in just a moment). Here's your sword. And your shield. Oh, look, and here come the Orcs, just like clockwork. Do us a favor, try not to die, will you? It'd really disappoint the Emperor to, y'know, be slaughtered by a bunch of bloodthirsty monsters. Oh, and welcome to Two Worlds II Castle Defense, too.Avadon: The Black Fortress Review
Progress. It's inevitable and generally, it's a good thing. Video games are no exception. Over the years, production values have continued to climb and along with them, developers have also refined the techniques that wow gamers. But for all the good that progress brings, there is a price to be paid and some of us find ourselves yearning for simpler times. Enter Avadon, an homage to old-school gameplay in an age where graphics reign supreme. It might not appeal to everyone, but those with the urge to go dungeon exploring will find that Avadon is more than enough to quench their thirst for adventure.Ticket to Ride Review
By Jim Squires
In the world of modern board games, few titles manage to stand out as absolutely essential to own. Settlers of Catan. Carcassonne. But of these must-play titles, only one seems to stand out head over shoulders whenever the folks I know sit down to play: Ticket to Ride. Now the folks at Days of Wonder have brought Ticket to Ride to the iPad, and it's nearly everything we hoped it could be.Stand O’Food 3 Review
By David Becker
Ronnie is back for another burger-turning adventure with Stand O' Food 3, and this time he will try to make his business a spectacular success in Tinseltown. While there was no real storyline in the predecessor, the newest instalment makes more of an effort and even connects Ronnie to Nikki from another G5 Entertainment series, Supermarket Mania 2. Though it still has a few issues, the game is a definite improvement over Stand O'Food 2.A Mystical Land Review
By Alicia Ashby
A Mystical Land is a new multi-platform MMO that's using the Portalarium player (which does require a download and install) to run through Facebook's platform. It may strike some players as reminiscent of Runes of Magic, which is not coincidental. A Mystical Land is one of the first projects released by Neonga, a company formed by former executives of Runes of Magic publisher Frogster. A Mystical Land's 3D graphics are very striking and its gameplay is a bit more polished than the usual Facebook MMO fare.Samorost 2 Review
There is an argument by some that video games simply cannot be art. I disagree. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I'd like to present exhibit A, Samorost 2, The game, which launched on the PC several years ago and just recently popped up on the Mac App Store, is far too short and it doesn't break any barriers, but it's a joy to play all the same. Why should you play Samorost 2? Put simply, because it's an entertaining, unique experience that you'd be hard-pressed to find in any other game.
