Jewel Legends: Tree of Life Review
By Brandy Shaul
The world of the Hods, a tree-dwelling forest species, is being threatened; their precious Tree of Life is dying, taking their home along with it. It will be up to you to complete Jewel Legends: Tree of Life's 100 levels to rebuild the Hods' world and restore their culture before it's too late. Unfortunately, the game never really lives up to its promise or potential for depth.Victorian Mysteries: The Yellow Room Review
French novel The Yellow Room by Gaston Leroux is considered one of the greatest "locked room" mysteries of all time. In it, a crime is committed within a locked bedroom and the assailant escapes, seemingly vanishing into thin air. Despite the story's distinctly 19th century themes, The Yellow Room remains one of the most surprising works of detective fiction ever written. Due to a fundamental flaw, its interactive equivalent, Victorian Mysteries: The Yellow Room, is somewhat less compelling.Sketch Nation Studio Review
Have you ever played a simple but successful videogame like Doodle Jump and thought to yourself: "I bet I could make a game like that easily!" With Sketch Nation Studio, that reaction might not be as unbelievable as it once was. Enginious' newest creation follows its previous success of Sketch Nation Shooter by giving players the tools they need to make their own "beat the hi score" style game.Hidden Mysteries: Return to Titanic Review
By Brandy Shaul
As we acknowledge the 100-year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we find game developers walking a fine line between creating a game that's respectful to the real lives lost and also entertaining to play. With Hidden Mysteries: Return to Titanic, the gameplay allows you to explore the Titanic both before and after its demise, but the story is such that the game could have taken place anywhere, making the Titanic setting seem more like an afterthought than a necessity.Burnout Crash! Review
By AJ Dellinger
Over the past few years, Electronic Arts has become one of the most polarizing companies in entertainment. Their games are regularly on top of best seller lists, but their likability among gamers hovers around the same level as Jack Thompson. EA's latest offering, Burnout Crash!, comes over from the Xbox and PS3 and slams its way onto the iOS in a fittingly polarizing way. As such, I've structured this review in a way that will switch from one extreme to another.Aero Vacation Review
By Eli Cymet
There's nothing quite like time off. The troubles of work behind you. Rest and recuperation ahead. Looking to capture this siesta spirit, developer Black Pearl Games has released Aero Vacation - a management title set in a world of luxury jets and constant relaxation. Unfortunately, this Chillingo-published sim feels a little too much like a trip away, complete with hours on end of nothing to do at all.Dark Legends Review
By Mike Rose
Spacetime Studios continues its mobile MMO Legends series with their latest release, swapping space and fluffiness for a rather different, more violent angle. Dark Legends puts you in control of a bloody-thirsty vampire, on a quest to find the culprit responsible for your fangs.Max Payne Mobile Review
The original Max Payne is an undeniable classic. It, along with its sequel, Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, introduced the mechanics of bullet time, noir-style presentation, and graphic novel storytelling in videogames. In tandem with Max Payne 3, coming soon, it's nice to see another iconic Rockstar title hitting iOS. While Max will be headed to the sunny shores of Sao Paulo later this Spring, it's great to be back in New York where it all began.
