The newest installment in the series doesn't just learn from its previous mistakes - it makes extra adjustments that improve the experience.
Downfall: Clash of Factions Review
At this point it seems like the differences among the host of city-building strategy games on the App Store come down to mere aesthetics. Do you like your strategy with castles, knights, and rote fantasy trappings? Pick up your sword and frolic in the Kingdoms of Camelot. Prefer your strategy narrated by steampunk women clad in leather and brass? Then by all means, go play Arcane Empires. And you folks in the back--do you like your strategy to unfold in a post-apocalyptic universe where gas-masked thugs lord over the ruins of Western civilization? Then Downfall: Clash of Factions might be for you.
Lies Of Astaroth Review
Love 'em or hate 'em, iOS CCGs (Collectible Card Games) are here to stay. The genre might be getting a bit oversaturated at this point but the beautiful thing about it is that all games have to compete with each other and, as a result, have begun to splinter off and create their own sub-genres. Lies of Astaroth is one such divergence, and it's made me a firm believer in the potential of card-based adventure games.
The Mirror Mysteries: Forgotten Kingdoms Review
Picking up after the adventures of the first Mirror Mysteries, The Mirror Mysteries: Forgotten Kingdoms sees Tommy all grown up and in a spot of trouble as he's sucked into a magical mirror that wishes to destroy all worlds, including your own. You're an investigator hired by Tommy's sister to solve the mystery of her brother's disappearance, but you'll need to save yourself before you can worry about anyone else.
Mushroom Wars Review
Not all console games can make a smooth transition to mobile, but Mushroom Wars isn't just any game. IGN named it one of the top 25 PlayStation Network titles of all time, so it makes perfect sense that Creat Studios and i-Free Innovations would want to put its fungus-to-fungus RTS game on iPads to get it in front of a wider audience.
Ghostbusters Review
If there's something strange in your neighborhood, it is prudent to call the Ghostbusters. Unlike the rest of the population, they're ready to believe your story about the demonic Chinese-crested dog living in your fridge. The bizarre events and devilish creatures that define the Ghostbusters movies have made for mixed success on video game platforms across the years. Beeline takes another crack with Ghostbusters for iOS, and the results are fun, if a little predictable and safe.
The Cave Review
I probably wasn't the right person to review The Cave. When I first heard that Ron Gilbert was doing a puzzle platformer, my reaction was lukewarm at best. While I'm all for new ideas, Ron Gilbert is the man that gave us Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. If he wasn't doing a new point-and-click adventure, I just wasn't interested in learning more. As it turns out, that was a really ignorant prejudice on my part.
Death Pages: Ghost Library Review
Mega-developer Elephant Games has an impressive stable of successful hidden object franchises, and with the release of Death Pages: Ghost Library, it appears the plan is to keep on expanding it. The name "Death Pages" suggests games built upon distinctly literary themes; a compelling idea provided those themes are handled well. Ghost Library, while exhibiting a good number of noticeable imperfections, offers enough creativity and beauty to make it worth your time.
