Bloons TD Battles Review
By Nadia Oxford
Monkeys that live in the jungle and in zoos are infamous for throwing, uh, stuff. Stuff of their own making. Fortunately, video games can do wonders for a species' image. The Bloons TD tower defense series on iOS and Android has monkeys hurling darts, bullets, ninja stars, and other sharp/bladed objects to defend themselves against the greatest threat ever known to primates: balloons. Bloons TD Battles continues the balloon-popping wars, but this time you must match your monkeys against live opponents.Hakitzu Elite: Robot Hackers Review
By Rob Rich
The idea of programming robots and such from within a video game is both cool and daunting. It's also been done both well and not so well in the past. Hakitzu Elite: Robot Hackers marks another attempt at the concept that's been simplified for beginners, but also offers more complex options for anyone who really wants to dig in. And it does a surprisingly good job of it - aside from the rough menu UI, anyway.Gentlemen! Review
By Mike Rose
I've thought many times before that there simply aren't enough local multiplayer games for tablet, in which two players battle it out from either side of the device. It seems like the perfect reason to whip out the iPad over a drink with a friend, or whittle away the hours on a long train journey. Gentlemen! fits this scenario perfectly, and I'll definitely be reaching for my tablet time after time, if only to laugh in the faces of my foes as I rain pigeon-based hell down on them.Saturn Defense Review
By Alex De Vore
In the future, all of Earth's resources have been depleted, forcing mankind into space to search for alternative energy solutions. The rings and moons of Saturn, being rich deposits for the elements and minerals we need to fuel our never-ending obsession with progress and ease-of-life, become a sort of large-scale energy mine for our struggling race; but all is not well. Hostile aliens have taken notice and will stop at nothing to reclaim their extra-terrestrial territory. Through strategy, patience, and high-tech weaponry, we must fight back to ensure the future stability of our once proud race.Flyro Review
A capitalist mad scientist mouse has frozen a tropical avian paradise to boost his region's tourism. Breaking free from your frozen prison using powers you gained as an egg when the stork accidentally dropped you into an active volcano, it's up to you to overthrow corporatocracy and thaw your winged comrades. Can ex-Valve level and game designer Grégoire Cherlin make a successful iPhone game about birds, or is that simply out of the question?Sine Mora Review
Sine Mora was released last year on consoles and PC to a combination of critical praise, but still mostly flew under the radar. Over a year later, the bullet hell-style shoot'em up has made its launch on iOS. It manages to retain many of the elements people liked about the game. Unfortunately, a few problems remain, and new ones manage to pop up due to its mobile platform.Nuclear Outrun Review
By Nadia Oxford
All of us harbor a deep-rooted fear of nuclear war. The prospect of a superpower losing control, pushing the button, and leaving us with a world of ash, rock, and poisoned air is so terrifying that we have to smile and laugh about it on a day-to-day basis just to stay sane. Maybe that's why Nuclear Outrun for iOS introduces a wasteland teeming with hipsters, cheerleaders, and irradiated zombies wearing rainbow afro wigs. There's lots of violent driving action to be had here, but dealing with the hefty in-app purchases is as much fun as suffering through a case of radiation poisoning.Strange Discoveries: Aurora Peak Review
By John Anthony
Here's a strange discovery for you: purple crystals that make plants come to life and animals mutate! Your brother Alan was investigating the situation on Aurora Peak when he summoned you to help. One helicopter crash and a crazy dude in a hazmat suit later, and you find yourself stranded near the mountain with no way to help Alan. Time to get this hidden object stuff started!
