Best Puzzle Games of 2012
The best part about the current state of the game industry—well, aside from all of the great games—is how impossible it is to predict where things are headed. Will there be another generation of consoles after the next Xbox and PS3 (PS4, I guess you could say)? Will tablets take their place? We can guess all we want, but no one truly knows. It's something of a puzzle, I suppose you could say.
Steam announces third batch of Greenlight-approved titles
Steam's Greenlight service has had its share of problems, but that hasn't stopped it from accomplishing its number one goal: helping indies get their games on Steam. Valve announced the third batch of games to make the cut today, along with (for the first time) a handful non-game software.

Games of the Month – November 2012
November was yet another hallmark month for releases and, as is typical of this time of year, we didn't have the easiest time deciding on which ones would make the cut. It's kind of like when you're trying to eat as much as you can on Thanksgiving, but only have a finite amount of space on your plate to work with. We're still within the window where Thanksgiving references are acceptable, right?
Kongregate now offering downloadable titles alongside usual browser-based content
Kongregate, one of the leading providers of browser-based free-to-play games, is expanding their focus to include downloadable titles. This marks a pretty major shift for the platform, and they're kicking things off with the addition of Smashmuck Champions, Super Monday Night Combat, and Bomb Buddies.

What's more retro than a movie about a beefy, shirtless barbarian? A pixel-based video game about a beefy, shirtless barbarian. Maybe you had a chance to play last year's Tiny Barbarian, a simple but compelling side-scroller by retro game fan Michael Stearns. Now Stearns and his friend, Daniel Roth, are turning to Kickstarter in hopes of funding a remake of the game for the PC. It's a big undertaking, even if the game's hero is oh-so tiny.

Steam's Greenlight service can be a scary place to navigate. Sometimes there's a bounty of amazing games to peruse, and other times finding the gold can require a whole lot of sifting. In my most recent search, I uncovered a gem I'm pretty excited about. It's called Path to the Sky, and it's a retro-inspired platformer with an emphasis on mystery.
