Despite only being around for a few months each, CityVille 2, Party Place, and The Friend Game are all going to be shut down. The announcement was made earlier today during an earnings call, and in the words of Zynga CFO Mark Vranesh—as reported by Inside Social Games—"CityVille 2 missed our expectations despite pushing the envelope in 3D gaming and both The Friend Game and Party Place failed to achieve the mass market appeal Zynga franchise are known for."Games We Can’t Wait to Play: Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online, OOG! We spend a lot of time looking at games here at Gamezebo. You'd expect as much - heck, it's in our name! But have you ever wondered which games the Gamezebo staff are really passionate about? The ones we can't personally wait to get our hands on?Greenlight Spotlight: Hammerwatch
By Joe Jasko
Before there was Castle Crashers, there used to be a little game called Gauntlet that was every gamer's pure dungeon dream. Even though the Gauntlet series fell by the wayside sometime after 2005, most have never forgotten its old-school charm and stylized gameplay; and luckily for us, some of those super fans went on to develop video games of their own!Thomas Was Alone developer Mike Bithell leaves studio job, goes full indie
By Dant Rambo
Thomas Was Alone was our favorite platformer of last year, but critical praise doesn't always indicate good sales numbers. Well, as it turns out, the game must have sold a decent amount: Mike Bithell, the one-man developer behind Thomas Was Alone, has decided to quit his day job as lead designer at Bossa Studios to focus on indie development.Kongregate launches Kongregate Mobile Developers program; pledges $10M towards mobile gaming

It seems like every day, more and more people begin to realize the commercial success and unlimited potential of the mobile games industry. And with those realizations come the big business moves that make them all the more powerful. Kongregate, a powerhouse in browser gaming, has announced the creation of a "Kongregate Mobile Developers" program, which will pledge 10 million dollars to the development of mobile games. The funding will help indie game developers work on free-to-play titles for the company, and add a better management of paid ad campaigns on third-party networks.Superbowl Sunday means a super sale: all standard edition games are $4.99 at Big Fish
By Jim Squires
The Superbowl might be the most watched event on TV every year, but don't think that means for a second that everyone is going to have their eyes glued to the TV today. Some of us would rather be hunkered down in front of the computer for a rousing night of hidden object fun.Swimming Against the Current: Moving from Video Game to Board Game Design
I am a video game designer. Or at least, I was. A few weeks ago I made a seemingly giant leap: from the profitable, growing-like-wildfire world of free-to-play digital games to the low-profit-margin world of board games. I left my awesome job at PopCap Games working with creative, talented people to pursue my life-long passion. Developing board games is still dark and mysterious to me, but I've found that what I've learned from building video games can shed some light on this new world.Footage of Korea-exclusive Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online pops up
By Dant Rambo
If I wrote a list of all the games I wanted to play that never made it to the states, it would easily hit the triple digits. And somewhere on that list—probably in the top 10—would be Ghosts 'n Goblins Online, a forthcoming Korea-only MMO set in the Ghosts 'n Goblins universe. The good news, though, is that the game recently had a closed beta, and Steparu managed to capture a bunch of footage.
