GENERAL TIPS

You will start each investigation with 5 hints and 5 hints only. There is no way to accumulate any more so use them wisely and sparingly. They should only be used as a last resort.
If you can’t figure out certain puzzles you can use the skip button and that part of the game will be solved for you. This is especially helpful in the sections in which you need to arrange the bottles in a certain order.
There’s no timer in the game so you can take your time and solve the puzzles at your leisure.
Some answers are random so in those instances I cannot give you a step by step solution. However, I can give you some tips on how to solve it.
Whenever you see an object shimmering, it is an indication of something that you need to investigate.
The tokens in the Deadlines Coffee shop are always in the same location from level to level.

INVESTIGATION 1

GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

Find all the inventory items in the Golden Gate Bridge scene, they are located in the following areas:

Cigarette pack-Bottom right side of the scene, it’s a blue pack of cigarettes.
Cork-Bottom left side, by the victim’s head.
Lighter-Bottom right side, by the victim’s hand.
Rotten Apple-Bottom left side of the ground.
Twig-Bottom left side corner of the screen.
Once you’ve found all those items you need to go back and examine the different parts of the body.The victim’s face, legs and chest.
When you click on the chest to enlarge it, click on the tattoo in order to take a picture of it.
When you click on the victim’s legs, look at the information that is given at the bottom, you will need those for later.

CRAB GAME

Click on the bottom right corner of the scene and you will be taken to a scene in which a crab has an object that belongs to the victim.
The goal is to plug all the holes except one in order to capture the crab.
You have to place the objects from your inventory into the hole, to plug it up.
Please look at the screenshot so you can see where each object goes.
Apple – Bottom left side
Lighter – Top left side.
Cigarette Pack-Top right side.
Cork – Top right side.
Once all the holes, except one, have been covered, grab the twig from inventory in order to get the crab.
Place the longer part of the stick into the hole so the crab can grab the twig.
The crab will then drop the diamond earring that belongs to the victim, grab the earring.
Click on the back button and you will be taken to the main scene. Click on the map and select the Police Station.

POLICE STATION

Look for the 5 items in the office,once you’re done you will see some dialogue.
You will then be taken to a screen which explains the characters you will play.

GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE PT. 2- HAND

Go to the map and go back to the Golden Gate Bridge.
In this scene you will need to investigate the victim’s face, chest and legs. Just click on those areas and read what they each say. Some of the clues will help you with another part of the puzzle.
Click on her fingers and you will see an investigation tool pop up on the left, a brush and a roller.
Take the brush and pass it over the dirt on the side of her hand until the yellow flower is completely clear of dirt. Just hold your mouse over it until it’s finished.
Take the roller and pass it over her fingers and a set of fingerprints will appear on the screen

FORENSICS LAB

Go to the Forensics Lab and collect the necessary items.
5 brown bottles
(1)Top left side of the cabinet.
(2)Left side, behind a potted plant.
(3)Top right side, above the computer monitor.
(4)Top right side, below the X-Rays on the wall.
(5)Right side, on the table.
Eyedropper-Lower right side
Petri Dish-Lower left side.
You can also look at the screenshot for a better view.

FORENSICS LAB PT. 2

Click on the computer screen that is shimmering in the back of the room, right side.
You will see the 5 brown bottles, the eyedropper and the Petri dish you collected.
Click on the 5 brown bottles and you will get a close-up view.
The objective here is to arrange the bottles in the order that is indicated on the labels.
The answers are random but I will give you some examples below that can help you solve the puzzle.
If for some reason you can’t figure it out, hit the Solve button at the top and the bottles will be placed in order for you.
After your bottles are in order you have to click on each bottle in the order that they are on the shelf, from left to right.
Take the first bottle on the left and it will go down to the counter.
Grab the eyedropper, click it onto the bottle first and on the Petri dish next.
Each time you drop it in the Petri dish you will see some words appear above the dish, like green smoke, red none or purple fizz etc.
The first word indicates the color that you have to click on the left side of the monitor.The second word refers to the section you need to click on the right side, fizz, boil, smoke or none.
On the computer monitor you can only click on the line that corresponds with the bottle that you just picked.That line will be highlighted after you use the Petri dish.
Do the same steps for each bottle that you test and remember to do it in the order that they’re placed on the shelf.
If you did not notice what the smoke from the dish said you can click on a brown bottle on the shelf and the message will appear again.
Even if you didn’t read the message you can still see the color of the substance and what it is doing.
After you’ve entered everything correctly, click on the ‘submit’ button.
Go back to the Police Station.

POLICE STATION-PT .1

Click on the computer screen in the Police Station and click on the ‘Victim ID Report’
Click on the ID Check Data base. Enter the fingerprints on the left side of the screen.At the end it will say that there wasn’t a match in the database.
Click on the Check Missing Person’s Report- Female/Asian/ 20s/ black hair/brown eyes/100-150-5’3 to 5’5 Click on where the submit button and it will say no missing persons match that description.

INVESTIGATION 2

CRIME SCENE ON THE FISHING BOAT

There are 2 locations on the map to choose from, go to the Crime Scene on the Fishing Boat first.
Find the items on the list.
Click on the woman that is on the ground.You need to click on her legs, her body and her chest.
When you click on her chest, click on the glimmering tattoo in order for you to take a picture of it.
Click on the net that is to the right of the lady on the floor.

NET PUZZLE

Once you click on the net, your objective is to click on the piece of rope that is on top in order to untangle all of them.
Click the colors in this order: yellow, red, green, green, red, green, blue, yellow, blue, yellow
The rest of the ropes are loose, keep clicking until you find the key.Click on the key to pick it up.
The clue tells you that the key belonged to Jennie Kwong of KNTV news. She’s a TV anchor.
Let’s go to the Police Station

POLICE STATION

Click on the computer screen on the desk.
Click on the Victim ID Report section.
Click on the "Enter Name" (if known) and enter the name Jennie Kwong.
Go back to the main scene and look for the 5 items on the list.
Let’s go back to the Crime Scene on the Fishing Boat location.

CRIME SCENE ON THE FISHING BOAT PT.2

Find the items on the list. I’ve circled all the items from the list that I had. This will not be the same for everyone but you will find some of the same stuff.
Examine the victim’s face, chest and legs.
Once you’ve clicked in her face and her chest, take the magnifying glass and place it on her pants.
The magnifying glass is on your inventory box that’s on the lower left side of the scene.
Once you have the close-up scene of her pants, take the plastic bag from inventory and collect a blood sample.
You’re all done here, let’s go to the Forensics Lab.

FORENSICS LAB PT. 1

Look for the items on the list, 10 bottles, 1 eyedropper and 2 Petri Dishes.
Please look at the screenshots for the location of all these items, they are all circled.
Anything with a "B" besides it, is a brown bottle.
Anything with a "P" is a Petri Dish.
The eyedropper is symbolized with an "E"
Once you’ve collected all those items, click on the computer monitor and test the bottles.

FORENSICS LAB PT. 2

Go to the lab and organize the bottles according to the instructions on the label.
The answers are random so I cannot provide them for you.
If you get stuck click on the submit button.
After you’ve arranged the bottles, click on each one and test them. Enter your results into the computer.
The results show that the blood type is B-
Now you need to test the blood on her pants.
Follow the same steps as above.
The results determined that the blood on the pants are AB+
Go to the Deadlines Coffee

DEADLINES COFFEE

Find all the items on the list.
I’ve circled all 5 coins on the screenshot along with everything else that was on the list that I had.
Once you find all the items click on the screen of the machine on the right side of the screen.
A mini game will open up.

THE DEADLINES CHALLENGE

You will start the game with 5 tokens and you will earn 1 more as you play.
Your goal is to guess what the six words on the board have in common.
Pick letters out from the bottom of the screen and you will know if that letter is on the board.
This is sort of like the Wheel of Fortune game, same premise.
The solutions are random but I will give you the answer that I encountered during the game.
If you use more than 6 tries, the computer will start you over with new clues.
If you’re stuck, you can click on the ‘solve’ button above and you will move on to the next area.
The Common Theme for my example was US STATES: Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, California, Utah and Nebraska.
Click on the coin that comes out of the lower right side of the screen.
Investigation Complete!

INVESTIGATION 3

CRIME SCENE UNDER THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

Find the items on the list
Once you’re done with the items, go to Kwong’s Home Garden

KWONG’S HOME GARDEN

Enter the door that is shimmering on the right.
Your goal is to talk to Jennie’s dad. You have to corner him by locking some of the gates.
Once you close the gates, click your mouse so that you character heads towards Jennie’s dad.
As soon as you can catch Jennie’s dad you can move on.
If you can’t catch him, click on the solve button on top.
Once you catch him a message will appear letting you know that he did not approve of his daughter’s lifestyle.
Click on the rose bush that is besides the gate.

ROSE BUSH

Click on the rose bush to get a closer view of it.
Place the bugs one by one on the orange leaf to complete this section.
Once all the bugs are placed, some blood will appear under the fallen leaf.
Take the cotton swab from inventory and place it on the pulsating drop of blood on the lower part of the scene.
Go to the Forensics Lab

FORENSICS LAB

Click on the computer monitor.
Arrange the bottles and test each bottle.
It is determined that Wo Ang’s blood type is O-

CHRONICLES OFFICE

Look for the items on the list.
I’ve circled all 25 microfiches on the screenshot.
Once you’ve found all the items on the list,click on the computer monitor

ARRANGING MICROFICHES

You need to enter some keywords into the computer.
On the top line, type in Judge. In the bottom line type in Kwong.
Then arrange all the microfiches by type. The rows are sorted by colors and the columns belong to items with the same theme.

JUDGE TSO’S OFFICE

Find all the items in his office and you’re done with this location.

INVESTIGATION 4

LIN KWONG’S OFFICE

Click on the cabinet that is shimmering on the top right side.
Grab the cotton swab that is in inventory and place it on the blood that in on the glass.
Go back to the main scene and pick up the following inventory items:
8 part of a round puzzle. Look at the screenshots for the location of all the round pieces. They will be marked with 2 circles around them.
Plastic cup with pencils is on the left side of the room, on the desk. A pencil will automatically be placed into your inventory.
After you’ve found 4 of the round pieces you will see a book on the left side of the desk, that starts to glimmer. Click on it and you’ll see an appointment book.
Click on the lower left side of the page (you’ll see a pulsating half gold circle there) and you’ll be able to rip the page off.
Take the pencil from inventory and drag it across the page several times until you see "lunch with Donald Wong 12:30"
Once you’ve found all the items on the list, a red box will start glimmering in the lower left hand side. Where the books are, click on it, it’s a puzzle box.

PUZZLE BOX

Pick up all the pieces that do not look like coins from the inventory and place them on the wheel that’s in the middle.
Since all the circles are different sizes you’ll be able to tell where they go in the center.
Once you have all the pieces in the center you can start rotating the pieces so that you form a picture of a dragon in the middle.
As pieces fall into place they will automatically lock in place.
Then place all the round pieces in the corners.
Pay attention to the red gems on each coin. You have to place the coins in the circles of the puzzle that has the same amount of holes.
Once you place the coins in the hole, rotate them so that they fit into the slot.They will automatically lock into place when it’s done correctly.
Once everything is in place the box will open up and you’ll find some cuff links inside, click on them.

Test the blood samples
Lin Kwong’s blood type is determined to be B+

CHRONICLES OFFICE

Type in Donald on line 1 and Wong on line 2 of the monitor.
You have to find 25 microfiche
Arrange the microfiche’s in order
The rows are colors and the columns are categories.
The columns from left to right are : Weapons,Food,Utensils,Things that fly,Toys
For the rows follow the colors of the pieces that do not move in the scene.
Grab the microfiche from 2002 and place it on the machine on the right side of the table.

LOTUS FLOWER ORPHANAGE

There’s a shimmering box on the left side, click on it and you will see some glass figures on a stand.
You have to arrange them in a matter in which they are sort of touching hands.The solution for the glass fugurines is a random one so different people will have different results.
Once they have been placed in their correct order and you go back to the room, the picture on the wall will be lit. Click on the picture.
Once you take a picture of the painting on the wall a light will start shining from the ceiling.
Grab the picture of the murdered girl from your inventory and click it onto the polaroid picture that is glimmering on the back wall.

Find the rest of the items on the list.

INVESTIGATION 5

CRIME SCENE ON THE FISHING BOAT

All you have to do is find the items on the list

WONG LTD REAL ESTATE

Find the items on the list.
Click on the fax machine that is on the left side and you will get a closer view.
Click on the red start button and and a fax will come out, then click on the fax itself to enter it into inventory.

LOTUS FLOWER ORPHANAGE

Click on the payphone that is on the back wall, left side.
Once the phone has a close up view click on the line that says :Doctor and a phone number.
The number will go into your inventory.
Click on the page that is on the right side of the back wall.
Once opened click on the line that says ‘staff meeting’
Look for items on the list.
There are 12 zodiac triangle pieces scattered through the room.
Look at the screenshots, all the zodiac pieces are highlighted.
Once all 12 zodiac pieces have been collected, the book on the lower right corner will light up, click on it.
You have to match the wooden piece with the items that it is related to.
For example a bunny and a magician’s hat.

PIER 50 SHIPPING WHARF

Click on the symbol on the side of the bin. A message appears at the bottom but nothing else happens.
Click on the piece of paper that is on the front of the bin, The message confirms that the bin belongs to Donald Wong.
Click on the front of the bin where you see the glimmering light.
Once you find all the items from the list, you will see a light shimmering on the right side, towards the back, under the tower.
You will get a close-up of the hook operator.
Place the key in the keyhole and the red light will come on.When you come out of the scene, you will see the hook lower on top of the bin.
Another light will be shimmering in the far right, exit the scene.

INVESTIGATION 6

POLICE STATION

Find the items in the list and then click on the monitor.
Click on look for a name, I entered Donald Wong and it said that person is not found
Click on looking for phone number and enter the number in envelope 5556720.
Go to Dr. Yao’s office

DR. YAO’S OFFICE

Click on the piggy next to the phone on the right and the phone will start glimmering.
Click on the phone and two numbers will go into inventory.
Click on the appointment book that is on the right side.
Click on the 12:00 appointment for Monday.

GOW CUM MOVIE THEATRE

Click on the menu that is glistening on top of the chair in the back row.
Pick up all 12 cigarette buds that are scattered in the the theatre.
Please look at the screenshot for the location of all the cigarette butts.

POLICE STATION

Click on the computer and then click on Look up phone number.
Click where it says to type in the name and type Dr. Yao. After you typed in the name it tells you to type in the number.
Type in 885-4601 and then 886-0148
Exit out of the scene.

DEADLINES CAFE

Find the items on the list
Play the Deadlines game.
Collect the cup of coffee that comes out of the slot.

WING FONG RESTAURANT

Click on the book that’s glimmering.
Once the book is open click on the glistening half circle at the bottom right side of the page.
Keep clicking until you get to the last page of the book.
Click on the right side, the second name from the bottom that talks about Donald Wong’s reservation.
Go back to the main scene.
Find all the items on the list. Once you find the flashlight and the batteries they will work automatically inside the vent.
Once you click on the screwdriver (left side, the railing, next to parrot) click on the vent that is glistening on the back wall with the screwdriver from inventory.
You’ll be inside the vent, guide your character to the red drawing on the top right side.
Once your character reaches that part, you have to guide her to the other exit.
Look at the screenshot to see where she needs to go.

INVESTIGATION 7

GOW CUM MOVIE THEATRE

Just find the 5 items on the list.

CHINATOWN APARTMENT

You have to find 21 pieces of paper. They are all circled in yellow in the screenshot.
Click on the picture that is shining on the left side of the screen.
Once you’ve found all the items on the list, a glistening piece of paper will appear on the desk, lower left. Click on it.

Piece the letter back together. Some pieces are already on the board and those pieces will not move.
You can right click to rotate a piece. Once a piece has been placed in the correct position, it will automatically lock into place.
If you wish you can start by placing the edge pieces first. Click on the left or right arrow buttons in the inventory box to scroll through pieces.

LIN KWONG’S OFFICE

Just find all the items on the list.

NOB HILL APARTMENTS

You need to find 11 colored bulbs.
All the colored bulbs will be circled in red in the screenshot.
Even though the instructions ask for 11 colored balls, there’s one that is clear but it was part of the list anyway.
Pick up the piece of tissue on the coffee table as part of the clue called "specimen from Raymond Woo".
Once all the items have been found, something will be glimmering by the window, click on it and you’ll be taken to a puzzle.
Place the bulbs in the appropriate slots. They will only fit in certain holes so don’t worry about placing them in the wrong place.
Click on the "X" that appears in the middle once all the lights have been placed.
A key will automatically appear in inventory, place the key in the keyhole of the diary.
Click on the page and exit out of there.

FORENSICS LAB

Pick up 8 brown bottles, 2 Petri dishes and an eyedropper.
Once you’ve collected all of them, click on the computer monitor in the back of the room.
Organize the brown bottles according to their labels.

Test each substance and enter your finding on the computer.
The blood type is o+
You know have to test the piece of tissue, do the same steps as above.
The result determines that the blood type is O-

INVESTIGATION 8

QIAN GAL’S APARTMENT

The cuff links are in the top left side, in the bookcase.
The junk mail is on the chair, lower left side.
Click on the computer monitor and you’ll find the clue marked as "unfinished e-mail"
Click on the victim’s head
Click on the victim’s chest and take a picture by clicking on the tattoo.

POLICE STATION

Find the 5 items on the list
Click on the computer screen and then click on Victim ID Report.
Then click on the Check Missing Report and a message will appear that states this person is not missing.
Click on enter name and type in Qian Gai.
Exit out of there.

QUIAN GIA’S APARTMENT

Click on the victim’s head and read the dialogue below.
Click on the victim’s legs and read the message below.
Click on the victim’s chest and then on his tattoo.
Pick up the blacklight from the inventory box and look for blood around the apartment.
As you run the backlight around the apartment, the desk by the computer will start glimmering.
Put the light down for a moment. click on the desk (make sure you have a close-up view) and then grab the blacklight and pass it around the desk.
You’ll see some green fluids appear on the desk, take the cotton swab from inventory and pass it over the green substance.
Exit out of there and go to the Forensics Lab.

FORENSICS LAB

Click on the computer monitor and arrange the bottles.
The substance is identified as nasal mucus.

WONG LTD REAL ESTATE

Find the items on the list
Click on the fax machine and press the start button, then click on the fax that comes out.

LOTUS FLOWER ORPHANAGE – RADIATOR

Find the 9 radiator parts.
As soon as you find all 9 radiator parts, the radiator against the right wall will start glimmering, click on it.
Take the pieces from inventory and place them on the radiator.
Once all the pieces are placed correctly, steam will come out of the left side.
Take the envelope from inventory and place it over the steam to open it.

NOB HILL LUXOR APARTMENTS

Pick up the 5 items from the list.
Click on the briefcase on the floor and then just click on all the contents that are shining inside the briefcase.

SUN LOONGS APARTMENT

You need to find 11 photo pieces.
Once you find all the pieces, you will see a pile of paper on the lower right side of the floor.
Click on the paper and start piecing it together.
After you’re done with the photo, go back to the main scene.
Click on the victim’s chest and face.
Exit out of the scene after you’ve found all the items.

CHRONICLES OFFICE

Find 25 microfiches and all the other items on the list.
Once you’re done click on the computer monitor.
Start organizing the bin before you input any information into the computer.
Once you’re done click on the computer monitor. It you can’t type anything into the search lines, just click submit first and then click on the first line.
Exit out of the scene once you’re done.

DEADLINES CAFE

Find all the items on the list
Play the deadlines game and remember to click on the coffee cup when it comes out.

JUDGE TSO’S OFFICE

Find the items on the list.
Click on the books that are in the back of the room, left side and read what it says at the bottom.
Click on the dresser on the lower right side and solve the puzzle.
The black piece in the middle of the puzzle is supposed to resemble a black heart.
Once you slide all the pieces and make it look like a black heart, click on the cuff links.
The heart has to be in the middle of the tiles in order for it to work.
Once its completed you’ll see a picture of young boy and girl inside. Click on the photograph and exit out of there.
Go back to the Forensics lab and test the bottles.
You will get a message that the blood type is AB+
You will be taken to some dialogue…and well, I’ll let you see for yourself.
