From making a band to reading a book in the library, here’s What to Do in Gakuran. If you want a more relaxed experience in Gakuran, you can sit somewhere serene and listen to music. To do this, you can play music out loud via your in-game phone or by wearing headphones, one of the rollable Gakuran Accessories.

What to Do in Gakuran

Gakuran is a role-playing game, which means the main feature is hanging out and chatting with other players. However, that can get a little boring sometimes. So, to fix this, the devs have added a bunch of interactable activities to enjoy.

Play Instruments + Make a Band

There are a variety of instruments to play, most notably in the music room at Nishikata High School and at the concert venue [Club Akuma] in the city. The mechanics when playing instruments in Gakuran work similarly to a rhythm game, where you need to hit the notes at the correct time as they fall down the screen. Depending on how good your timing is, you’ll earn Perfect, Good, Okay, or Bad ratings.

The instruments you can play are:

  • Electric Guitar
    • The easiest one to play, as it has two lanes for notes
  • Bass Guitar
    • Four lanes for notes
  • Drums
    • Four lanes for notes
  • Piano
    • Four lanes for notes

Whilst you can play an instrument solo, you can also take part in multiplayer performances. Even if you join other players halfway through a song, you’ll be thrown into the jam at the exact point, ensuring everything is synchronised.

Chalkboard Drawing [Collaborative Art]

The chalkboards in Nishikata High School aren’t just for decoration. You and your fellow players can draw together in real-time using different colours of chalk. This can be a fun way for artists to collaborate. Just watch out for trolls who come over to erase all of your work.

Play Basketball

You can play a fully fledged game of basketball on the court. Shoot the ball to try and get it in the net, but as you’re charging your shot, you need to keep the Shot Meter Zones in mind.

The Shot Meter Zones are:

  • Bright Green
    • Perfect shot, practically guaranteed to go into the net unless blocked by another player
  • Lime Green
    • A slightly late shot, but there’s a high chance of scoring
  • Orange
    • A late shot with a low chance of scoring
  • Red
    • Bad shot, guaranteeing a miss

To improve your basketball skills, take note of the controls:

  • Dribbling
    • X, X+Z, or X+C
      • This determines the type of dribble you perform
  • Dropping the ball
    • Backspace key
  • Defensive stance
    • Right-click with your mouse
  • Shooting the ball
    • Hold the F key to charge the shot before letting go to throw the ball

Read a Book

The library is located on the second floor of Nishikata High School. Here, you can choose from a variety of books to read. To add to the realism, the pages actually flip as you read. Rather than simplified text, each book contains writings about the world of Gakuran, engaging stories, and more.

Other Activities

Play Games On Your Phone

When using your in-game phone, you can select the ‘Games’ option from the menu screen. Here, you can browse through multiple games, including classics:

  • Snake
  • Flappy Bird
  • Pong Breakout
  • Space Shooter
  • 2048

Listen to Music

You can play music through your in-game phone or by wearing headphones. The former can be done by all players, allowing for group listening sessions. To get headphones, you’ll have to reroll your Head Accessory Slot for them. With Headphones, you can listen to the in-game music privately, unless knocked off your head during combat.
