With vicious red eyes and no description, the Gnome looks equally enticing and terrifying. So, delving into the fear factor of this garden ornament, I’m here to answer your burning question of what do Gnomes do in Grow a Garden 2?

I’ll make my pitch and sell these little rascals to you, as they’re pretty efficient for your plot. So long as they’re on YOUR plot…

Let’s get into it.

What Do Gnomes Do in Grow a Garden 2

When deployed, Garden Gnomes attack and steal sheckles from thieves that visit your garden during the nighttime.

If you weren’t aware, during nightfall, all gardens have the chance to be stolen from whilst the owner is away. If you’re on your plot, it remains locked, meaning all your crops are safe. However, stepping out of the confines of your plot means it’s unlocked, and players sharing your server can sneak in and take your produce.

This is a double-edged sword event, as you could steal from richer players, but you always run the risk of being bitten by their Gnomes and losing it all, or having your garden raided in your absence.

Where To Buy Gnomes

Gnomes occasionally appear in the Gear shop, in the centre of the map. They’re an Epic rarity item costing 50,000 C$.

Prevent Thieves

Alongside your Gnomes, your trusty shovel also knocks items from thieves. This ragdolls them temporarily and makes them drop the crops they’re holding, sending the produce back to your garden immediately.

At the same time, the player can equip their shovel and knock you, keeping you out of your garden for longer and distracted, so other players can enter and steal.

Become a PRO Thief

On the flip side to my prior heading, you could put all of your stocks into becoming a professional thief if protecting your land seems like the boring approach.

According to the Wiki, though in-game I haven’t seen it myself, there is a Door Crowbar, which allows you to break into locked gardens and gain access to the player’s produce.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Gnomes worth it?

I’d say so. They help take back some of the stolen value of your crops if a player makes off with your plants. It may not equate to the full value, but Gnomes are great prevention methods, since players likely won’t want to run the risk of losing more money than they can gain.

What should I do before nightfall to prevent thieves?

I recommend harvesting all of your grown crops before nightfall and selling them, so that you don’t lose them even if you leave your plot. This has the added benefit of preventing the crop from decaying, which happens if you leave produce rooted for too long.
