Western Sniper is a cowboy-themed shooter that sees you picking off your enemies from a reasonably long distance away. There are plenty of levels to play through and while the mechanics are easy to understand, things can get tough if you’re not sure what the best way to proceed is.

Which is exactly why we decided to write you this guide. We’ve spent a good long while playing through Western Sniper and discovered a series of strategies that are going to help take your shooting to the next level. And now we’re only too happy to share them with you.

Whether you’re just lining up your first shot or you’ve already snagged a couple of upgrades for your rifle, you’re going to find something here that’ll turn you into the scourge of criminals in the old west. Here are the best hints, tips and cheats for Western Sniper.

Aim then zoom

The best way to play is to line up the cross where you want to shoot, then tap to zoom. That’ll keep you in cover for the longest time and ensure that you’re going to get a hit every time you shoot. You can keep zoomed if there are targets close together, but if not, duck back in cover and find your next shot.

Always go for headshots

You get more points for shooting the bandits in the head, so it’s well worth taking your time to line up your shots perfectly to strike them in the noggin. It’s not always possible, depending on range and obstacles, but for the most part you should be aiming for the head.

Find the wanted

On some levels there are bandits and wanted targets. Take a moment to find out where the wanted target is and make sure you’re taking them down first. They can escape if you don’t. The bandits, on the other hand, will just wait around for you to kill them all. Take down the wanted, then mop up the rest.

Get the bundles

When you unlock one of the costume bundles the game asks if you want to watch a video to keep it. While the costumes are purely aesthetic, you’ll also get a bonus stat boost if you grab them. That makes watching the video a much more enticing prospect, so we’d suggest doing just that.

Upgrade when you can

After certain levels you’ll be given a chance to upgrade one or more of your stats. You should always up at least one of these. Usually you’re going to have enough cash to get the one you can pay for, but if you don’t it’s worth watching a video to unlock one of the others, since your upgrade chances are so few and far between.
