To help narrow down the choice.

When it comes to the best race in VV Ultimatum, I’m looking for balance. The VV Ultimatum race you pick depends on your preferred play style, but the purpose of this guide is to help narrow it down if you’re struggling to choose.

VV Ultimatum Best Race

In VV Ultimatum, there are three races to choose from: Quincy, Hollow, and Soul Reaper [also referred to as Shinigami]. The difficult choice is which one to go with, as they all feature different combat styles, gameplay, and progression quests.

What you’re looking for is a race that’s easy to progress with and not too complicated to upgrade, whilst also making sure your damage output and strength aren’t hindered.

In my opinion, the best race is Quincy, though Hollows are a close second.

Incidentally, I’ve written two guides on the progression steps of both Quincies and Hollows. For Quincies, check out my VV Ultimatum Quincy Progression walkthrough, and for Hollows, there’s my walkthrough for VV Ultimatum Hollow Progression.

Why Quincy?

Whilst progression as a Quincy is locked behind level 25, once you start, it’s pretty simple. Compared to the Hollow progression steps, it’s a breeze for Quincies.

For Quincies, there’s a focus on completing quests from the Lieutenant NPC. Pretty straightforward. Once you get your Evolved Spirit Weapon, as you become stronger, your next task is to craft the Sanrei Glove. The trickiest part of this is collecting all of the required materials for the crafting recipe.

Gaining the Sanrei Glove allows you to meditate, which leads to the final step in Quincy progression: finding Securis in the Arctic Plains and defeating him. After this fight, you unlock your Letzt Still, granting you your most powerful form.

The easy nature of upgrading as a Quincy, combined with Spirit Weapons, makes this race the best choice for beginner and veteran players who are used to similar games, without any disadvantage to their power. Spirit Weapons can be evolved and upgraded, progressing to Letter Abilities, all of which are incredibly useful in combat.

Runner Up: Hollows

Hollows are my second choice for similar reasons to Quincies, apart from the fact that Hollow progression is a lot more complicated and long-winded. Hollows have many forms, and to make the most of them, you need to reach the final form, evolving into an Arrancar.

Hollow Traits also help to make Hollows stronger, but you’ll be relying on RNG, and the number of Traits you can have can only increase once you reach your final Arrancar form. Learn about how each of them works in my VV Ultimatum Hollow Traits guide.

While Hollows are powerful, the first form you choose can hinder your progress later on. Your Fishbone form can provide buffs, debuffs, or a balanced starter build. Getting your Res can become complicated if you pick a Hollow starter form that you struggle fighting against.

Despite the struggle, becoming a Hollow is still a great choice, especially with the ability to customise Zanpakuto Parts and having access to a range of Hollow-exclusive weapons.
