Type Soul Shinigami Progression Explained
Our Type Soul Shinigami Progression guide walks you through the process of becoming a Soul Reaper first, and then a Shinigami!

Looking for the entirety of the Type Soul Shinigami Progression? Nice! Luckily for you, that’s what we’ve got right here.
Visit the Type Soul Roblox page to become a Soul Reaper! As a Shinigami and a Soul Reaper, you’ll need to know which Shikai are best. That’s where our Type Soul Shikai Tier List comes in handy!
Type Soul Shinigami Progression
It can be an arduous process, but it’s worth it.
Becoming a Soul Reaper
As with every other faction in Type Soul, to become a Soul Reaper, you need to die first. Once you are killed, you can choose between the 3 factions.
As a Lost Soul, which is what you are after being killed, you can head to Karakura Town. Hunt down the NPC called Kisuke, and then interact with him to become a Soul Reaper!
Trainee Soul Reaper – Climbing the Ranks
Once you become a Soul Reaper, you will be swiftly teleported to Rukongai. As a Trainee, it’s your job to start working through some missions to earn a sufficient amount of EXP.
Forming a party can make this process a little quicker, but be warned, it’s still a grind! To speed up your traversal movement, unlock the Flashstep ability – this costs 0 skill points via the Speed skill tree.
Grade 5 Onwards
Getting from the Trainee rank to Grade 5 means you can now work towards becoming a Shinigami! Make sure to equip the Senkaimon that can be found in your inventory and head to Soul Society.
Divisions
There are Divisions to choose from in Soul Society. To join one, you can speak to one of the leader NPCs! Each Division comes with quests that reward you with Division EXP.
Getting to Grade 3 and Grade 2
The quickest way to reach these grades is by working through even more missions. And, now that you’re in a Division, you can start earning Division EXP too!
Semi-Grade 1
To get to Semi-Grade 1, you can obtain Shikai EXP after reaching Grade 2. Interact with your Shikai Spirit and defeat your Shikai to receive this EXP, alongside Division and normal EXP by continuing what you’ve been doing for the previous grades. Scroll down to learn more about unlocking your Shikai!
Reaching Elite Grade
Getting to Elite Grade requires a mixture of Division EXP, normal EXP from missions, raid EXP, Shikai EXP, and Grip EXP!
Itto Kaso
Collect and use 9 Hogyoku Fragments at the same time to unlock Itto Kaso. You deplete 10% of your HP to charge the move, which lunges you forward. If you don’t manage to hit your target with this lunge, you instead summon a large flame pillar. If the lunge hits your target, you smash them into the ground before unleashing the flame pillar.
Vizard
Soul Reapers can utilise the power of Hollows with Vizard! Upon the usage of your Vizard Mask, you obtain a random buff, which you can reroll. To reroll, use a Variant Reroll, Soul Blessing, or True Hogyoku. The potential buffs you can get are:
- Speed buff
- DMG buff
- HP Regen
- DEF buff
- Reiatsu Regen
To unlock Vizard, have a nosey at our How to Get Vizard in Type Soul walkthrough!
Advanced Shunko
When reaching Elite Grade, you can speak with the NPC in Division 6, located within Soul Society. Make sure you have 3 Hogyoku Fragments before speaking with the Captain. You then need to Grip 4 Arrancars (make sure they’re NPCs) before the Captain can do so. If you beat him, you get your Advanced Shunko! There are 4 types:
- Fire
- Ice
- Wind
- Lightning
Unlocking Bankai
In short, you need to complete 3 stages to unlock your Bankai. For a detailed walkthrough on each stage, read our Type Soul Bankai Progression guide.
Unlocking Shikai
Once you reach Grade 2, you can unlock your own Shikai. To begin, you must receive the quest, which can be done by meditating 3 times for a total of 20 minutes.
Meditating for the 4th time will summon your Shikai, whom you then need to defeat. After beating your Shikai, hit J on your keyboard to use your Shikai ability.
