Touch the Wall is kind of like a mobile game version of that childhood game “What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?” where you and a bunch of others have to sneak towards an opponent player who plays the wolf. They periodically turn around, giving you time to start moving before turning around once again. If you’re caught on the move, it’s game over for you. This version turns that whole game into a race, and introduces a wide variety of obstacles that you have to try and avoid too.

In gameplay terms, it’s pretty simple. You run automatically and tap and hold the screen to stop. Using just those two simple mechanics you’ll avoid a variety of obstacles, avoid being caught by your opponent’s gaze, and, hopefully, pull off a perfect run and win. To help you, we’ve put together a bunch of tips and tricks for beginners. We’ll help you get accustomed with the experience so you can start winning more often than you lose.

Touch the Wall Tips and Tricks:

  • Know the controls: There’s only one control to learn in Touch the Wall, and that’s to tap and hold the screen to come to a complete stop. The game’s complexity comes from the myriad obstacles you have to avoid during a run, which all involve stopping and, more crucially, learning timing.
  • Understand the countdown: Touch the Wall features two different phases: green and red. During the green phase you can run forward to your heart’s content, provided you avoid any obstacles in your way. The red phase though, is the most dangerous. During this phase, the opponent player will turn around and seek out moving players. If you’re caught moving during this phase, you’ll be thrown back to the beginning, or the nearest checkpoint if you’ve reached one so far. This red phase actually has two phases in itself. During the first phase, you’ll see the cone of red light covers the entire arena, meaning that your opponent is looking at literally everyone. A second or so later, the cone thins and focuses on a single opponent, leaving the others free to move if they dare.
  • Stop as soon as the timer fully counts down: Don’t mess about with the timer. As soon as it has counted down, and the green light turns to a red, tap and hold. The split second or so you miss out on running to be completely optimal isn’t worth the setback you’ll get from being thrown back to the start.
  • Start moving as soon as the opponent’s gaze thins – provided it isn’t on you: As soon as your opponent’s gaze thins, you can safely start moving again – provided it isn’t locked on you. As we mentioned earlier in this guide, the cone of light thins and focuses on one of the runners during the red phase. As long as it isn’t on you, you can safely get moving again without the fear of a setback.
  • Learn the timing of obstacles: Quite quickly you’ll start to notice obstacles appearing in all tracks. It’s worth keeping a close eye on these, as they require decent timing to avoid them. The best advice we can give is to use the quietness of the red phase to get an idea for timing ahead so you can blitz through.
