Tiny Loops, for want of a better genre name, is a rollercoaster rider simulator. You’ll ride around a crazy track in a cart, with the goal to try and survive as long as possible.

It’s not that difficult in theory. You press and hold on the screen to build up speed, sending your cart hurtling across the tracks. When you gain air, continue to press and hold and you’ll perform backflips.

Each successful backflip you perform earns you a new cart, which increases your score. But it’s not easy to pull off a backflip, and most times you’ll lose concentration and forget to pull your finger off the screen.

Failing to land a flip leads to a game over screen, and you don’t want that. Fortunately for you, we’ve gathered together a bunch of tips and tricks to help you avoid just such an outcome.

Tiny Loops – Tips and Tricks:

  • Get to grips with the controls: The controls are deceptively simple in Tiny Loops, with you merely pressing and holding on the screen to gain speed, and continuing to do so while in the air to perform backflips. The only other thing you can do is release to stop moving or flipping.
  • Pre-empt jumps: You’ll want to constantly scan ahead while moving to predict where the next jump is located. They’re easy to spot, as the track will turn into a ramp. If you feel like you’ll get enough air to pull off a flip or two, do so. If not, just release while you’re in the air and press again when you land.
  • Play it safe: Losing all of your carts is the worst thing that can possibly happen, so if you don’t feel confident about a flip, just don’t perform one. We tended to err on the side of caution and only perform one flip per ramp, unless the jump was huge.
  • Watch an ad to get your carts back: If you do fail – and you will regularly – we recommend that you watch an ad to get your carts back. While watching ads isn’t very fun, it won’t take as long as it does to get your cart collection back.
  • Sometimes bumps in the track give you air: While ramps are easy to spot, there are more things that can propel you into the air. Be vigilant for bumps in the track, as these often don’t give you enough air to flip.
  • Don’t let your finger obscure the tracks: Whether you use your finger or thumb, don’t let it obscure the tracks. You really need the best visibility to progress safely throughout each level. Instead, place it on the lower sections of the screen.
  • Don’t get cocky: Just pulled off an epic series of flips? Don’t get too cocky. The game likes to lure you into a false sense of security by placing small bumps and ramps right after big drops. You’ll be too busy feeling good about yourself after a bunch of flips that you won’t notice it and lose all of your progress. Be careful.
  • Completing levels is more important than a high score: Forget the score – it doesn’t matter in the beginning. Instead, focus on completing levels. Why? Because you’ll unlock more carts that you can’t lose by dying, which will drastically boost your score later in the game. Focus on a high score then.
