General Info and Walkthrough

Welcome to The Lost Cases of 221B Baker Street walkthrough on Gamezebo. Lost Cases of 221B Baker Street (also known as The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes 2) is a hidden object game created by Legacy Games for PC. This walkthrough includes tips and tricks, helpful hints, and a strategy guide to complete The Lost Cases of 221B Baker Street.

General Game Information

  • There are 16 mystery cases in this game.
  • You may choose between Timed mode and Relaxed mode (no timer).
  • Dialogue and mini-games may be skipped.
  • If you exit the game, when you resume you are brought back to the same place you left off.
  • The location of items in hidden object scenes may vary every time you every game.

Game Elements

Starting the Game

  • When creating a new character, you can choose your preferred game mode: Timed or Relaxed.
  • WARNING: Game mode may not be changed once your game is in progress.
  • If you wish to switch to a different mode, you will have to exit to the Main Menu and create another character.
  • You can turn on Tutorial mode for the first story. This is highly recommended, as it will guide you through the first mystery and explain the game’s tools and features.

Options

  • Here you’ll see options for volume, screen size (full screen or window), full or minimal dialogue, and custom or default cursor.
  • We recommend that you select Full Dialogue so as to better understand the motives of the various suspects.

Library

  • You’ll need to solve the first 4 cases before the next group of cases is unlocked.
  • There are also 4 bonus read-only Sherlock Holmes stories (the list of stories is at the bottom of this page). A bonus story is unlocked after you solve a group of mysteries.
  • After all 16 cases have been solved, you’ll have access to a bonus laboratory game.
  • To begin a case, click on a book’s title (not its spine).
  • At any time within the game, you may return to the Main Menu and start a new case or replay a solved case.
  • If you quit in the middle of a case, and you want to start a new case, you’ll be informed that you will lose your current progress. This means you’ll only lose your progress for the case that you just quit, and not for the entire game.

Hints

  • You are given 5 hints for every mystery case.
  • Earn extra hints by finding Sherlock’s pipe. One is hidden in every scene.
  • When you click on the Hint tool, a pipe and a cloud of smoke will briefly appear around a random object from your list. Watch carefully or you might miss it.
  • Hints may be used immediately one after another. No need to wait before using the next hint.
  • Use hints anywhere in the game, not just to find objects but also to solve mini-games and elimination rounds.
  • When you use a hint in a mini-game, it is not deducted from your number of usable hints.

Zoom

  • The magnifying glass tool helps you zoom in on a particular area of a hidden object scene.
  • Use the right-click button on your mouse to activate or de-activate it, or just click on the icon.

Suspect List

  • To see the Suspect List for the current case, click the question mark icon on the bottom right of the screen.
  • Select a suspect’s photo to bring up the notes for that suspect. Click anywhere to return to the scene.
  • You might want to read these notes to test your detective skills and come up with your own guesses before Sherlock reveals the culprit at the end.

Gameplay

  • If you click around the screen randomly too many times, the cursor will spin around wildly.
  • The item list in hidden object scenes is the same every time you play the game.
  • However, the items may not always be in the same place.
  • Puzzle and mini-game solutions are usually constant in each game.
  • You may skip a mini-game when the Skip meter is full.
  • You may also reset mini-games if you wish to start from scratch.
