Welcome to the The Journey Down: Chapter One walkthrough on Gamezebo. The Journey Down: Chapter One is a point-and-click adventure game created by Skygoblin. This walkthrough includes tips and tricks, helpful hints, and a strategy guide on how to complete The Journey Down: Chapter One.

General Tips

  • This is a straightforward point-and-click adventure game in which you need to scan scenes with your cursor to find interactive objects and new locations
  • Interactive places can consist of items that can be picked up and put in your inventory, people you can talk to and objects that you can interact with. Pay close attention to the information you get when you click on an interactive object, even if it doesn’t seem useful at the time as you may get subtle clues on where to find later items
  • Move your cursor to the top of the screen to save or exit your game, and to change window and volume settings
  • Your inventory bar will pop up when you move your cursor to the bottom of your screen
  • To use inventory items in a scene you need to drag and drop them to the desired location. Simply clicking on an inventory item will tell you what it is and occasionally give you other useful information
  • Inventory items can be combined to create new items by dragging and dropping them onto each other in the inventory
  • For the best game experience, always go through all available dialog options. Dialog options that trigger new events will disappear from the list once you’ve gone through them. Purely informative dialog options will remain available in case you want to go back and read them again. There are no “deal breaker” options. If a dialog option ends the conversation, you can simply start the conversation again
  • Apart from in a few compulsory scenes, you can click through most dialog
  • The order of actions described in this walkthrough isn’t necessarily the quickest or most efficient, but I have organized the actions by task so you can find all actions relating to a specific task in one place

Meeting Lina

  • Click on the power box to help Kito

 Chapter One

  • Click on each of the four brackets
  • Click on the box to open it
  • Pull down the handle

 Chapter One

  • After the long scene with Lina, go to the cupboard in the back and find the breadsticks
  • While you’re there, might as well go to the fridge behind Lina and take the cheese as you will need it later
  • Click on the breadsticks in your inventory and drag them to the ladder
  • Go up the ladder to the bedroom

 Chapter One

  • Check the dresser for a shirt
  • Take the paintbrush from the hearth
  • Lie down on the bed to find the book Lina is looking for
  • Choose either one of the dialog options

 Chapter One

  • You need to re-enter the phone number into the phone. Exit the phone and check the folders on the coffee table. You find that the phone number is 99-450

 Chapter One

  • Access the phone and turn the three knobs on the bottom until the colors at the top match the colors of the wires (red, yellow, green, from left to right)
  • You can now enter the code 450
  • Choose either of the dialog options
  • You need to find a propeller, two engines and a steering wheel to get the plane airborne

 Chapter One

  • Go back down the hatch into the plane

 Chapter One

  • Open the hatch under the dashboard and take the wrench
  • Talk to Lina again, if you like, for some backstory
  • Exit right to the wing

 Chapter One

  • Take the net
  • Go back into the plane and up the ladder
  • Exit to the bottom right of the screen, so you’re back by the power box

 Chapter One

  • Drag and drop your brush onto the paint bucket

The Propeller

Get the Fishing Rod

  • Go right to Mama Makena’s Diner

 Chapter One

  • Talk to Matoke, who’s fishing on the pier
  • Ask him if you can borrow his fishing rod. You can’t
  • There’s more you can do here right now, but I’ll talk about that when we need it
  • Go back to the power box and left to the plane
  • Exit left to the gas pump by the water

 Chapter One

  • Put the cheese from the fridge in the house on the float to lure the rat
  • Go back to Mama Makena’s and talk to Matoke again
  • You will get the fishing rod
  • Go back one screen and exit north to the tram station

 Chapter One

  • Rummage through the garbage and find a hook
  • Put the hook on the fishing rod
  • Go back to the plane and into house
  • Use the fishing rod with hook on the fan on the ceiling
  • You will get a broken propeller

Find the Password

  • Go back to the tram station
  • Exit northeast to the ship

 Chapter One

  • Talk to the dockmaster
  • Tell him you’re a deckhand and he will ask you for the password. You don’t know the password
  • Go back to Mama Makena’s
  • Talk to the sailors and tell them you forgot the password. They won’t give it to you as you don’t look like a sailor
  • End the conversation
  • In your inventory, use the paintbrush with paint on the shirt to make it look like a sailor’s outfit
  • Show the shirt to the, now sophisticated, sailors and you will get the password
  • Go back to the ship and tell the dockmaster you have the password
  • You receive a mop

Fix the Propeller

  • Board the ship
  • Exit right and talk to the welder. She gets a bit annoyed about you calling her mister
  • Go back one screen

 Chapter One

  • Turn the handle on the gas canister
  • After the flash of light, go back to the welder
  • Quickly, before the welder recovers, use the wrench you found on the plane on the nut nearest to you
  • Put the broken propeller on the nut and wait for the welder to recover. She will fix the propeller for you
  • If she recovers too soon, go back and turn the handle on the gas canister again

The Steering Wheel

The Metal Rod

  • Go back to Mama Makena’s
  • Talk to the sailors again and ask about the stew to get some chillies
  • Go back to the plane and down to the pump by the water

 Chapter One

  • Cast your fishing line in the water
  • You catch a mudyuggler
  • Go to the ship
  • Go right to the empty dock
  • In your inventory, combine the mudyuggler with the chillies
  • Feed the mudyuggler to the pelican

 Chapter One

  • When the pelican is down, use the wrench on the lever on the forklift
  • Check the nest and get a metal rod

The Ship’s Wheel

  • Go back to the dock with the ship

 Chapter One

  • Use the fishing rod on the buoy in the water and reel it in
  • Click on the buoy again to pull up a cage with a crab
  • Use the net you found on the plane’s wing on the cage to get the crab
  • Go to Mama Makena’s

 Chapter One

  • Feed the crab to Rufus the dog
  • Go into Mama Makena’s
  • Click on the ship’s wheel on the wall and ask if you can have it

Two Engines

The Spice Mix

  • Go back to the ship and go back to the top deck

 Chapter One

  • Click on one of the switches
  • Keep randomly clicking on the switches until Bwana, well, “makes it work”
  • Climb up the ladder
  • Go right into the galley
  • Be persistent and go in again
  • Talk to Sabo the chef
  • Exit and make your way back to Mama Makena’s
  • Talk to her about the stew – you can do this either outside or inside, it doesn’t matter
  • She will give you a spice container and a recipe

 Chapter One

  • Go back to the plane and into the house
  • Click on the blue mug on the counter to get the lemon (ew!)
  • Go upstairs and check the bookcase on the right for a book on herbs
  • Find the chervil

 Chapter One

  • Go back to the plane and down to the pump by the water
  • Click on the oil tap to get oil (ew!!)
  • Go to the dock with the pelican and click on the box with salt
  • Board the ship and climb the ladder to go back to the yacht

 Chapter One

  • Go into the galley and exit to the freezer in the back
  • Check the freezer in the bottom right for ginger
  • Put the ginger and the chillies into the spice container

 Chapter One

  • Pick up the chewing gum
  • Put the gum on the power switch (left button; yellow)
  • Turn the knob (green) to hot
  • Now click the right button (blue)
  • Exit the freezer
  • Put your spice mix in the stew

Canapés

  • Go back into the freezer

 Chapter One

  • Check the top left freezer for some bread
  • Put the bread in the bottom radiator by the door
  • Switch off the right button and switch the middle button on
  • Take the toast
  • Switch the middle button off and the right one on again
  • Exit the freezer and give the toast to Sabo

 Chapter One

  • Take the tray of canapés
  • Exit the galley and try to go through the glass door
  • Show the concierge your canapés
  • The hungry man in the white jacket will eat all your canapés, dangit! And he will keep eating them each time you come back unless you do something

 Chapter One

  • Go back to the galley and take another tray of canapés
  • Exit the galley
  • Use the paintbrush with the white paint on the canapés
  • This time, the hungry man won’t eat them
  • Exit through the door on the right

Steal the Engines

 Chapter One

  • Attempt to go through the engine room door

 Chapter One

  • Zoom in on the control panel
  • Repair the two circuits by rotating the blocks until everything is connected
  • Click on the button next to the control panel

Taking Off

  • Give the propeller to Kito and he will start fixing it in place
  • Enter the plane

 Chapter One

  • Put the metal rod in the hole on the dashboard
  • Put the steering wheel on the rod

 Chapter One

  • After the scene, go back into the plane and right to the wing
  • Take the winch from the anchor’s chain on the right

Coffee for the Welder

  • Go to Mama Makena’s

 Chapter One

  • There is a guy sitting at the bar drinking coffee
  • Click on the drainpipe next to him to move it to the right
  • Use the wrench on the pipe to turn the spout
  • Go into Makena’s
  • Click on the coffee pot to ask if you can take it

 Chapter One

  • Go back to your friend the welder on the ship
  • Pour the coffee into her mug
  • Click on her access card to ask if you can borrow it

The Tram Station

  • Go to the tram station

 Chapter One

  • Use the access card on the card terminal
  • You need to enter a passcode. Hm.
  • Exit the terminal and look at the card in your inventory
  • In the top right of the card is a series of dots connected by a line
  • Use the card on the terminal again
  • Enter the code by following the line you saw on the card, starting in the top right: 3, 2, 5, 7

 Chapter One

  • Enter the elevator and click the up button
  • Talk to the vendor and look at the various objects if you like, but the one thing you have to do is try and put the bent winch handle on the track
  • Go back into the elevator

 Chapter One

  • Click the down button but have your cursor ready over the button with the red X in the middle
  • Hit the red X when you see a panel with four bolts come past
  • Fiddle around with the arrows until you can see the whole panel, as in the screenshot above
  • Click on the four bolts to rotate them until the lines on the bolts line up with the lines on the panel
  • Click on the plate to remove it
  • Exit through the window

 Chapter One

  • Put the winch handle on the track and wait for a train to come past
  • Go back into the elevator and take it all the way down
  • Go to the plane and onto the wing
  • Put the winch handle on the winch at the top of the chain and click on it to raise the anchor
