We have a full guide on how to unlock the Goblin Cave in The Forge. But to summarise it here, you need to speak to the Goblin King just outside of the main area of the Forgotten Kingdom.
By speaking with him, you unlock his questline, which includes 5 different quests, each of which requires you to pay a specific amount of Gold and find a certain amount of rare ores.
You can use any type of Crystal Ore to forge weapons and armor. While they don’t come with any extra traits when forging, they do provide decent multipliers. If you want a higher multiplier for a weapon or a piece of armor, you can use a spare slot for Crystal Ores.
