The Bachelor: The Video Game is a mini-game collection designed for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch by Ludia Games, and takes you right into the wildly popular television show The Bachelor. Compete with other singles to earn enough heart points so that you survive the “Rose Ceremony.” Gamezebo’s The Bachelor: The Video Game strategy guide and walkthrough will provide you with a quick start guide, tips, tricks, and hints on how to win.

Getting Started

The Bachelor: The Video Game can be downloaded from the App Store by clicking the “Get It Now!” link at the top of this page.
Next you will be prompted to choose a gender. If you choose female then you will play a game of The Bachelor ,with 4 woman vying for a rose and ultimately the proposal from the Bachelor. If you choose amale then you will play The Bachelorette, with male singles vying for the hand of the Bachelorette.
You will be prompted next to enter your user profile name. It doesn’t really matter what you put here because it is not the game name you will play under. You will be assigned a player that represents you and the user name is for saving purposes only.
Next you will see the game’s main menu and here you can tap on the gear icon to adjust sound volume, brightness, captions and see the game’s credits.

You can add up to 5 games to your device at one time. The game allows you to choose varying levels of difficulty unlocking episodes as you complete them. You will begin with Season 1, and after completing it you will unlock Season 2, and finally Season 3 which completes the entire game for that difficulty level..
You will be able choose from 3 levels of difficulty which are “Easy, “Medium” and “Hard”
It is best to begin with easy and work your way up in additional profiles.
Next you will be introduced to the character you will be playing as in the game. Note that the Bachelors and Bachelorettes in the game are based on actual stars from the television show. (It is not known if the contestants in the game are based on actual contestants)

Meeting your Bachelor/Bachelorette

Gameplay largely follows the format of the television show. You will be placed with 3 other contestants and will go on group dates with them. You are actually going to be competing against these other singles (playing against the computer) and your score will determine whether or not you are eliminated from the game. The higher your score the more heart points you earn and the more you impress the Bachelor.
There are 3 mini games (Group dates) that vary based on level, and in the first round it is important that you score high enough in the mini game to stay placed either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, as 4th will be eliminated in the first rose ceremony.
In the second round the remaining 3 contestants will move forward and again play another round of dates. Another single player will be eliminated until you are down to the final 2. You will have to do well against this other player to win as the margin to beat them becomes narrower with each elimination.
If you make it to the final round you will be given a one on one date and will be given a task to complete in order to impress the Bachelor. If you do not do well you will score a broken heart and could be sent home. If you do well, you will be rewarded with making it through the Rose ceremony and ultimately after making through the third episode, the Bachelor asking for your hand in marriage.

Fantasy Suite

The Fantasy Suite is where you can watch video clips of moments in the game which have been unlocked by completing various Episodes.
Each Completed Rose Ceremony unlocks one or more video clips in the Fantasy Suite that you can watch any time you wish from the main menu of the game.
There are videos of girls winning and losing. So even if you won you can still watch the video of a losing girl to see what happens.

Group Dates – Episode 1 – 1

Group dates consist of you competing with at first 3 other singles playing varying mini games and at the end of each session one contestant will be eliminated until there is only 1 standing.
Since this guide is here to get you started the mini games from Episodes 1-1, 2-1 and 3-1 will be shown here with tips to get your best score. You will see variations of these mini games throughout the competition as the game itself may be the same and just the appearance is different. (For example in one level you tap on all feathers avoiding red ones before they hit the ground. You may see this game again as you level up but instead of feathers it might be Oysters instead utilizing the exact game play rules.)
You will be shown a date card at the beginning of the session. Next you will be given a brief description as to how to play the game.
You always have the option to play or practice the game. If you choose to practice there is no penalty. There is also no point deductions for practicing so be sure to utilize this helpful feature.
TIP – It is highly recommended that you practice the games first until you get the hang of them. (Some are quite difficult to get the hang of even at easy level and you need the highest score possible to beat out your competition especially in the higher levels.)

Episode 1-1 Snowmobile Race

Here you will race against 3 other competitors.
You will need to hold your device in a downward position moving it left and right so that you may keep it on the track and reach the finish line before the others.
There is a progress indicator located on the right side of the screen. You are the blue marker and you will be able to see the green, yellow, and red snowmobiles on the track as well as their indicator marks.
They other snowmobiles do not crash into you or affect your ability to race on the track.
Be sure to practice this one as even at easy it was challenging to get the hang of.
Once you reach the finish line you will be ranked and a screen will appear awarding your heart points.

Episode 1 – 1 Dessert Weight Comparison Challenge

In this date challenge you will have to determine which of the desserts shown is the heaviest. You will only have a couple of seconds to do this and the desserts are shown on the screen where some will weigh down and you should take note of these as your heaviest desserts.
As soon as you have your answer ready tap on the dessert at the bottom of the screen that is heaviest. If you are correct you will see a green check mark and if not, you will see a red “X”
As soon as your answer is scored another screen will appear. You need to be fast at this and practice it until you get the hang of it.
Along the right side of the screen you will see your score at the top position and the scores of your competition.
This is a challenge you will see in future dates but instead of desserts it may be drinks or another item.

Episode 1-1 Inflate the Hot Air Balloon

This challenge is tricky at first but once you get the hang of it you will breeze through it.
Your challenge here is to inflate a hot air balloon faster than the others.
Hold your finger on the screen to keep the needle inside the green margin for 3 seconds to inflate your balloon.
You will notice there are times where the button says, “Press” and “Wait” It will light up when you can press it.
TIP – The trick to this game is to use rapid taps with your fingertip to keep control of the needle. You will need to hold it in the very tiny green area for at least 3 seconds and will see a countdown of 3-2-1 while doing so. If you mess up and interrupt the count it starts over which can be frustrating.
As soon as you are successful the green area will flash pink and then move to a different part of the meter.
The green area will move many times before the race is finished. Look at the balloon at the top of the screen and you will see it inflating as you progress.
Be sure to practice this one first.

Heart Points

During your dates you will be earning heart points. Basically whoever has the most heart points at the end wins.
You will see your character placed in order of score with heart points awarded and then the lowest scoring competitor will be eliminated at the Rose ceremony. You will then progress to a one on one date if you last long enough and will be given single challenges which represent how much you can impress your Bachelor. It is important you do well on the single challenges so be sure to practice the games.

One on One Date – Episode 1-1

Once you have scored high enough you will be rewarded with a one on one date with the Bachelor in which you will sit by the fire and talk.
This date will need some excitement so you will be prompted to do a single challenge for your best score. The better you do the happier the Bachelor is with you on your date.

Episode 1-1 – One on One – Falling Feather Tap

In this challenge feathers will fall from the top of the screen and you must tap on the blue and yellow ones before they hit the bottom avoiding the red feathers.
Yellow feathers fall faster than blue ones.
If you hit a red one a single point for each will be deducted.
You will be expected to tap on a maximum of 45 feathers.
Note – You will see this challenge again in future dates with some variations in appearance. The tips for game play will still apply.
Be sure to practice this so you can get used to how the yellow items fall down.
There is a score indicator to the right of the screen to let you know how well you are doing.
NOTE – If you exit the game you will lose all progress back to the beginning of the game not at the point you left off.

Episode 1-1 Rose Ceremony

The Rose Ceremony is the elimination portion of the game and is handled the same as the Television show counterpart.
The person with the lowest number of heart points will be eliminated and you will be asked to continue with another series of group dates with the remaining contestants until there are only 2 of you standing.
In this episode you will lose the 4TH contestant.
You will see all the contestants lined up in order of score and a Rose will appear over the contestant if they are staying in the game.
NOTE – Each time you complete a Rose Ceremony you will unlock a new Video in the Fantasy Suite.

Episode 2-1 Group Dates

You will have to survive 3 Rose Ceremonies to win the hand of the Bachelor.
This area represents Episode 2-1.
Now there are 3 contestants competing and it will be a little harder to win a spot.

Episode 2-1 Tracing Images (Sand)

This game requires you to have good control and speed. You will be given patterns that represent images in the sand.
Note when you place your fingertip on the screen you will have a paint brush and the lines will fill in with blue when you touch them correctly with the brush.
You will need to practice this skill as well as it is tricky at first. You are always given the option to practice in mini games.
There are 4 different images for you to completely paint although it doesnt have to be absolutely 100 percent filled in. Once you have the acceptable amount painted in the image will disappear and a new one will appear in its place.
You will eventually run out of paint and will need to add paint to the brush by holding your finger down on the lower left side of the screen. It will fill up the meter in a couple of seconds.
Go back to painting but keep an eye on the paint meter to keep it full.
You will be racing with the other 2 competitors. Whoever is finished first will win the most heart points.

Episode 2-1 Speed Boat Race

This race is very similar to the snow mobile race at the beginning of the game.
You will move the device left to right tilting it to keep the Speed boat on the track and avoiding the markers.
You will be able to see a progress indicator at the right side of the screen and again your color is blue. (Competitors are now green and red.)
The race is over once you cross the finish line.
You will be awarded heart points based on your overall score.

Episode 2-1 Falling Oyster Tap

This is your final group date for episode 2-1 so do your best here!
This game is identical to the feather game listed in 1-1 except now there are falling Oysters.
In this challenge Oysters will fall from the top of the screen and you must tap on the blue and yellow ones before they hit the bottom making sure you avoid the red Oysters.
Yellow Oysters fall faster than blue ones.
If you hit a red Oyster a single point for each will be deducted.
You will be expected to tap on a maximum of 45 Oysters.
Note – You will see this challenge again in future episodes with some variations in appearance. The tips for game play will still apply.
Be sure to practice this so you can get used to how the yellow items fall down.
There is a score indicator to the right of the screen to let you know how well you are doing along your competition.

Episode 2-1 One on One Date

You are now rewarded with a one on one date with your Bachelor and you will be spending a romantic day on the beach having drinks.
You will need to complete this single task for the best score possible.
Your score here represents how happy the Bachelor is with you.

Episode 2-1 Collecting Hexagons (Beach Version)

NOTE – Be sure to practice this game the first time as it is tricky until you have it down.
When the game begins you will be given a large screen of hexagons.
Tap on any area and you will see a blue outline of hexagons growing bigger each second. You must tap on these blue areas so that the colored area moves away. (collecting the hexagons) The tricky part is that a beach ball is flying all over the screen and if it touches the outlining blue area it just fizzles away and you don’t get credit.
You will need to immediately place the marker somewhere else while trying to collect as many hexagons as fast as possible.
The first person to reach 200 hexagons will win.

Rose Ceremony – Episode 2-1

You and the other 2 contestants will now meet for the Rose ceremony.
The contestant with the lowest number of heart points will be eliminated.
Now it is you and one other competing for the Bachelor.
Proceed to the final episode of 3-1.
This Ceremony unlocks the “poolside Chat” video for the Fantasy Suite.

Episode 3-1

Select your difficulty level and then tap on 3-1 in the main menu to complete the final round of dates.
You are only competing against 1 person in this round which makes it harder to win.
Be sure to practice any games you are shaky with before you officially play.

Group Dates – Episode 3-1

Episode 3-1 Baking Souffle

This competition is very similar to the Inflate the Hot Air Balloon challenge of 1-1
This challenge is tricky at first but once you get the hang of it you will breeze through it.
Your challenge here is to bake a Souffle faster than the others.
Hold your finger on the screen to keep the guage needle inside the green margin for 3 seconds while your Souffle rises in the oven above..
You will notice there are times where the button says, “Press” and “Wait” It will light up when you can press it.

Episode 3-1 Heaviest Drink Challenge

This challenge is nearly identical to the dessert challenge in Episode 1-1 except now you determine which drink is heaviest in the group shown.
In this date challenge you will have to determine which of the drinks shown is the heaviest. You will only have a couple of seconds to do this and the drinks are shown on the screen where some will weigh down and you should take note of these as your heaviest drinks.
As soon as you have your answer ready tap on the drink at the bottom of the screen that is heaviest. If you are correct you will see a green check mark and if not, you will see a red “X”
As soon as your answer is scored another screen will appear. You need to be fast at this and practice it until you get the hang of it.
Along the right side of the screen you will see your score at the top position and the scores of your competition.

Episode 3-1 Ice Rink Hexagon Collection Challenge

This is your final group challenge and is played exactly like the one on one challenge from Episode 2-1 known as the “Collecting Hexagons – (Beach Challenge)” except now you are on an ice rink and a snowflake is flying around the screen instead of a beach ball.
When the game begins you will be given a large screen of hexagons.
Tap on any area and you will see a blue outline of hexagons growing bigger each second. You must tap on these blue areas so that the colored area moves away. (collecting the hexagons) The tricky part is that a snow flake is flying all over the screen and if it touches the outlining blue area it just fizzles away and you don’t get credit.
You will need to immediately place the marker somewhere else while trying to collect as many hexagons as fast as possible.
The first person to reach 200 hexagons will win.
There is a progress meter along the right to show you how you are doing in comparison to the other player.
This is a critical game to score well in.

One on One Date – Episode 3-1 “Dinner with the Parents”

You are now rewarded with a one on one date with your Bachelor and you will be spending a romantic day meeting his parents and having dinner with them.
You will need to complete this single task for the best score possible.
Your score here represents how happy the Bachelor is with you.

Episode 3-1 – One on One – Tracing Meat Images

This final one on one date task is nearly identical to the Tracing images in the sand challenge from Episode 2-1

You will be shown a video of how the date went and will then be awarded your heart points.
On to the final Rose Ceremony!

Final Rose Ceremony of Season

If you have scored high enough to beat the other contestant you will be shown a video of the Bachelor proposing to your character.
They kiss then the final score of heart points is shown.
You will unlock the “Meet the parents” (Jake) video and the “Wedding Proposal” video (Jake) for the Fantasy Suite after this Ceremony.

What’s Next?

Once you reach this point in the game you have a few options.
You can play it again from the start at a higher difficulty level.
You can continue on with the next Bachelor that is unlocked ( Jason Mesnick) Once you complete the 3 episodes for him, you will unlock another Bachelor with 3 more Episodes you can complete at 3 different difficulty levels and different mini games or variations of earlier ones.
