Getting Started
Navigating the Screen
At the top of the screen you will find your current balance of coins and stars as well as your current experience and level.
Immediately below that you will find your active achievements, or quests.
At the bottom of the screen is the main menu button. Click on this will open the main menu where you will find your multitool, animals, store, cross-breeding, nursery, and coins & stars options.
There is also an other button which is where you will find email invites, check-in, about, move, sell, and settings.
Terminology
Coins: Coins are the currency of Tap Safari. You earn coins from your animals and by picking up garbage around your park. Coins are used to purchase new animals, breed animals, expand your park, and buy decorations.
Stars: Stars are the premium currency of Tap Safari. Stars must be purchased using real currency. Currently, there is no way to earn them in game. Stars are used to purchase premium items and animals. They can also be used to speed up expansions to your park.
Experience: You earn experience by purchasing staff and animals and completing achievements. Once you have earned enough experience you will level up. Leveling up unlocks new animals and items for your park.
Achievements: Achievements are quests given to you. Completing achievements earns you experience which helps you to level up.
Main Menu: The main menu is where you can access the store, purchase animals, access the move and sell options, and breed and cross-breed your animals.
Animals: You cannot have a decent safari without any animals. Purchase animals under the main menu and place them in your park. Animals will earn you coin over time. When it’s time to collect coins from animals there will be a coin icon on top of their habitat.
Nursery: The nursery is where you can breed your animals. You must have two of the animal you wish to breed. Once you have started breeding two animals you will need to wait until breeding is complete and then the baby animal will be added to the habitat.
Cross-Breeding: Cross-breeding allows you to breed two different animals to create a new animal. Once you’ve selected the first animal you wish to breed you will be given a list of animals that can be cross-bred with it. You will have to wait for cross-breeding to complete to find out what animal they will create.
Store: The store is where you can purchase staff and decorations to spruce up your park. You can also purchase land expansions here.
Building Your Safari
To begin building your safari, you will need to purchase your first animal.
Click on the main menu button located at the bottom right of your screen.
This will open the main menu window. From here, click on the animal button.
Scroll down the list until you find the animal you wish to purchase.
Tap on the animal you wish to purchase to be taken back to your park.
Tap on the spot you wish to place the animal. You may have to tap and drag to get exact placement correct.
Once your animal is placed where you want it, double tap the screen to finalize the purchase.
If you wish to move an item later on, go to the main menu and select other. This will take you to a new screen where you will find the move option.
Once you’ve selected the move option you will be taken back to your main screen. Tap on the item you wish to move. The item will become transparent and you will be able to tap and drag it around the screen. Once again, double tap the screen to accept its placement.
Tap on the menu button at the bottom right of the screen to disable the move option once you are done.
As you grow your safari, you will quickly find yourself running out of room.
You will know you need to rearrange or expand when you try to purchase an item and you are unable to due to there being no room to place the item.
To expand your safari, you can tap on undeveloped areas of the screen that say “expand”. This will bring up the expansion window.
If you have enough coins or stars available you will be able to purchase a land expansion.
Expanding land will take a certain amount of time. The cost of land, and time it takes to expand will increase each time you complete an expansion.
If you have stars available you can choose to speed up the expansion process.
Breeding & Cross-Breeding
Once you have purchased two of the same kind of animal you will have the option to breed them.
To breed animals, tap the main menu button at the bottom of the screen. Then tap the nursery button to open the nursery window.
Click on the available nest to open the list of animals you can breed. Please note, that all available animals are listed but you can only breed animals that you currently own.
Select the animals you wish to breed. You will be taken back to the nest which now has an egg in it (yes, all animals apparently hatch from eggs now).
You will need to wait for breeding to complete. Once it has completed you can tap on the egg to hatch your animal and it will be added to that animals habitat.
Cross-breeding allows you to take two different animals and breed them to make an all new animals. This is the only way to unlock certain animals.
To begin cross-breeding, tap on the main menu button at the bottom right of your screen and then select the cross-breeding button.
This will take you to the cross-breeding window.
Tap on the first box on the screen and select an animal from the list that appears. Make sure to select an animal you already own.
Now tap on the third box on the screen. This will open a list of animals that can be bred with the animal you have already selected.
If you do not already own one of the animals listed, you will need to purchase one before you can continue.
If you do own one of the animals in the list, select it. Now tap the middle box to cross breed the animals.
You will need to wait for cross-breeding to complete before you can find out what animal results from your experiment.
Once you’ve completed cross-breeding your animals you will be able to place the animal in your safari.
Maximizing Coins
You will need to earn coins to purchase animals and decorate your safari.
The best way to earn coins is through your animals. Each animal habitat will earn you coins based on the type of animal and the number that you have.
When a habitat has earned you coins, there will be a coin icon over the habitat. Tap on the habitat to collect the coins.
You can also collect coins by cleaning up garbage around your park. Tap on any random items that appear on the ground to earn small amounts of coin.
If you are desperate for coins (or need to remove decoration items to make more room in your park) you can also sell items and animals for small amounts of coin.
To sell items, go to the main menu and select other. From there select the sell button and then tap on the item you wish to sell.
Maximizing Experience
Earning experience will allow you to level up and unlock new animals and items.
The best way to earn experience is to complete achievements.
You can find achievements directly below the top toolbar. Tap on it to see your current achievement list.
Most active achievements will allow you to tap on them to be taken directly to the steps you need to complete (purchase an item, breed two animals, etc).
You can also earn experience by purchasing animals and staff, and collecting coins from animals.
Once you have earned enough experience, you will level up and unlock new items.
