Sword Play is a game about slicing your foes down to size. You’re basically playing as a floating sword, swiping on the screen to attack anyone who gets in your way. It’s easy to pick up, but if you want to get to the later levels there’s plenty of stuff you’re going to have to understand.

If you think you’re already a sword master or you’ve just figured out which end to poke into people, you’re going to find something to help you out here. So let’s get on with it – here are the top five best hints, tips and cheats for Sword Play.

Keep your sword central

It’s best to think of your sword as a guided missile. Keep it in the middle of the screen and you’ll be able to take down pretty much anything that gets in your way. Sometimes you’ll have to deviate or make corrections, but for the most part you’re going to be onto a winner if you keep your blade central.

Don’t swipe too much

It can be tempting to swipe all over the place to show off your sword-fighting prowess. Really though, there’s no need. In fact, swiping too much can put you in some difficult positions. Make small moves when you need to swipe and you’ll do just as much damage as if you were doing huge swooping slices.

Try the special powers

The special powers change things up a bit, so it’s fun to have a go at them when you’re given the chance. More often than not they’re ranged attacks which let you tap to throw something. There’s a different rhythm to the game in these sections, so they’re worth checking out to keep your brain engaged.

Watch out for new enemies

New enemies appear regularly, and they’re usually a different color to the ones you’ve faced before. Keep an eye out for them, because they might require a change in your tactics. Some of them are going to fire projectiles, which you’ll need to cut up or deflect with your sword. If you see a color you haven’t seen before, get ready to do something slightly different.

Look out for bad guys with shields

These are some of the trickiest enemies you’re going to face. They’ll have a number on their shield which shows how many times you have to hit it before it’s broken. You’ll need to slice them once more after that to kill them. Get ready for a good scrap when you see anyone with a shield.
