Welcome to my Summon Heroes Runes Tier List, where I’ve ranked each one from best to worst. In Summon Heroes, Runes can be used to strengthen your units. To find out which units you should be focusing on, take a look at my Summon Heroes Tier List.

Summon Heroes Runes Tier List

Runes are a new addition to Summon Heroes, which means you’re probably looking for the best options. If that’s the case, focus on the Runes I’ve ranked in S-tier and A-tier, and try to avoid those in D-tier at all costs.

  • Rankings last checked on the 25th of June, 2026

S Tier

The best Runes to equip your units with.

  • Vampiric Rune
    • Effect:
      • 10% of the DMG a unit deals is converted into HP replenishment
    • The conversion of DMG to HP is a great addition to any team. If you equip a unit that deals a high amount of DMG, that means even more HP will be replenished
  • Warp Rune
    • Effect:
      • Units can teleport to the location of their enemies
      • Has a cooldown of 15 seconds
    • It’s probably an obvious choice, but a unit having the ability to target and teleport directly to an enemy is useful in almost any scenario

A Tier

These Runes are worth equipping to your units due to their almost perfect effects.

  • Angelic Rune
    • Effect:
      • Summons a shield now and again, granting Invincibility for one second
      • Has a cooldown of 20 seconds
    • Great for dodging incoming attacks, especially if it’s a powerful one. The only reason this Rune isn’t in the S-tier is because of the incredibly short duration of this effect; one second isn’t a long time at all, so you have to be quick about it
  • Burn Rune
    • Effect:
      • Inflict enemies with Abyss Burn when you hit them, dealing DMG equal to 10% of your ATK stat for 3 seconds
    • I’m always a fan of Damage Over Time [DoT] abilities, which is why I’ve ranked the Burn Rune so highly. It scales off the ATK of the equipped unit, so make sure you’re saving this Rune for one of your more powerful characters
  • Chrono Rune
    • Effect:
      • TBC
  • Boom Rune
    • Effect:
      • The radius of AoE attacks increases by 140%
        • This counts for projectiles, too
    • AoE attacks can be useful when controlling and damaging multiple enemies at once. This can clear the way for your other units, keeping them safe if they’re beginning to get overwhelmed and need some time to recuperate

B Tier

Not completely lacklustre.

  • Shadow Rune
    • Effect:
      • There is a 40% chance that your units will not be targeted
    • Don’t get me wrong, the effect of this Rune is useful, but it’s only a 40% chance. If you have a unit with low HP, then maybe the Shadow Rune is a good choice

C Tier

Practically pointless.

  • Focus Rune
    • Effect:
      • Your units are 20% less likely to target summons and will focus on casters instead
    • Whilst not inherently bad, the Focus Rune causes your unit to focus on defeating the caster instead of their summons. The thing is, the rest of your team can do that anyway, so you don’t really need a Rune for that purpose

D Tier

The worst Runes in Summon Heroes.

  • Golden Rune
    • Effect:
      • Coin Drop increases by 10%, meaning enemies will drop more gold when they are defeated
    • Extra gold is nice, but it’s 10%, and you’ll earn gold anyway
  • Giant Rune
    • Effect:
      • Your units have a 120% larger hitbox, but their HP increases by 10%
    • Yes, increased HP is good, but with a 120% larger hitbox, your units are more susceptible to defeat
