Spiral Rider is a game that sees you tightening and loosening a ring around a wooden pole. As you do you’ll carve out the spirals of the title. You’ll also need to collect coins and avoid obstacles like walls, spikes and more.

While the game’s central premise is simple, there are some more complex ideas here that you’ll need to get to grips with to succeed. And that’s where this guide comes in. It’s made up of all the important strategies we’ve discovered during our time with Spiral Rider.

It makes no difference whether you’re just cutting out your first spiral, or you’ve been dodging spikes for a while, there’s going to be something here to help you out. These are the best hints, tips and cheats for Spiral Rider.

Be cautious

It’s tempting to push your luck and get as close to the spiky parts of the level as you can before you let go, but in reality you’re just putting your run at risk for very little reward. Lift up your finger well before you reach the spikes and you can be sure you’ll make it to the end.

Get the end right

Speaking of the end, it can be a bit tricky to get the best score when you’re peeling the giant block. Peel too much and you’ll hit the lower scores at the beginning, too little and you’ll overshoot everything. Try and scrape a little less than half of the block to get the big central scores.

Go for coins

Sometimes there are coins hanging in the air around the level. Often you’ll just pick them up naturally, but there are others you’re going to have to be cleverer about. Remember that you can collect coins with detached spirals and make sure you use that to your advantage.

Learn the obstacles

As you unlock the new obstacles it’s important to learn what they do. Rainbow pipe makes you speed up, for example. And you’ll need to smash walls with loose spirals or face death. Figure out the challenges and keep moving forward.

What’s the cash for?

You can spend the cash on unlocking new patterns for the insides and outsides of the beam you’re scraping. They’re only cosmetic changes, obviously, but they add a spark of different color so if that’s the sort of thing you’re into you may as well buy them.
