Medals are a regular reward you will obtain whilst playing Sonic Superstars. The medals you gather are then used within the battle mode, where you can spend them at the shop hub. Medals get exchanged for more parts and upgrades for your robot character. These upgrades may serve a purpose to benefit you further in the game. Or just be entirely cosmetic and look cool.
You can find medals when playing bonus stages, where completion will award you with several medals.
Exchanging 100 Rings which can be collected through the variety of levels you play will also award you with several medals.
Also, in the second special stage accessed by speeding through checkpoints, you will navigate through rotating mazes. Here you can also find medals lying around, which can be taken into the battle mode for upgrading your robotic character.
Battle mode is where all your hard work grabbing medals shines through. Creating your very own unique character built from the robotic remnants of the main cast from Sonic. Battle mode is an intense race mode where your goal is to place first before the other participating players.
You can shoot bullets and earn points when you damage an opponent, but risk losing points when you’re struck. Become a Star Snatcher and collect stars throughout the intense races, however, be careful, you can lose stars when you take damage too. Above all, survive! Try and stay on the stage for as long as possible whilst avoiding the surrounding calamities.
