Game Introduction – Solara

Solara is an online persistent RPG where you build a cast of fighters, complete quests and build up your castle. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to play your best game.

Quick Start Guide

  • To download the game, click the “Play Now” button at the top of this page.
  • Once downloaded, click the “play” button.
  • That’s it! You’re ready to start the game!

How to Play:

Solara

  • Castle: One of the main components of Solara is the castle.  In this main screen of the game, the castle is center stage.  The castle will house all your shops and your ability to get gold coins, which are earned in the shops over time.  Earning gold begets building more shops and castle upgrades to put in more shops. You can see how much gold you have at a glance in the top left-hand corner of the screen, where it is represented by the yellow colored bar.
  • Esper: Esper is the game’s premium currency, and it is how you can quickly progress in Solara if you want to spend real world cash to do so.  Esper allows you to speed up castle upgrades, instantaneously open shops and fill up your “energy” meter.  There are not many ways to earn Esper without paying cash, so if you want to get a jump on the competition, you’re going to have to shell out some cash. If you’re looking for where to buy more Esper, it can be found in the “treasure” icon in the upper right-hand corner of the above screenshot.
  • Food: Food is the energy of Solara. You’ll use food to fight and train your soldiers, and it will completely recharge if you pay Esper or if you level up.

  • Quests: The quest screen is the main source of progression in Solara. Your quests will come in a few different flavors—combat or building.  The quests will direct you in who you need to fight, or what you should build in your castle.  In terms of your castle, you’ll have strict limits as to how many of what type of building you can make, so there are some caps to your customization.

  • Leveling: As you complete quests, you’ll earn experience and eventually level up your castle. The castle level (which in the first screenshot is shown in the upper right hand of the screenshot) determines the maximum level that any of your characters can be—so your characters can never exceed your castle level.

  • Party Selection: Before you enter combat, you’ll have to select your party. As you level up your castle, you’ll open up new slots to place fighters, and as you complete quests, you’ll unlock new characters to train and use in combat.
  • Classes: Like many other RPGs before it, Solara has a number of different character classes for players to choose from, but they all fit into the general RPG archetypes.  There are warriors, rangers, mages and healers.  They all have their own specific strengths and weaknesses, so you’ll need to have a nice mix of characters to defeat the bad guys.  Make sure that you’re always going out to battle with a healer once available, and then make sure all classes are represented to put forth your best foot against the baddies!

  • Training Characters: In order to defeat the bad guys, you’ll have to train your characters. Training them takes food. Unlike most RPGs where characters earn the experience in battle, the castle earns the experience in encounters. Solara has you use food to level up your characters, and you also use food to fight.  This leads into you running out of food naturally, so you can spend Esper (and therefore money) to refill your food and get your characters where they need to be for combat, or you can be a plebian like myself and just wait it out.  A great tip is to keep an eye on how close you are to leveling, and then before the combat mission that will send you over to the next level, use all of your food on training your characters.  If you do not do this, you’ll be wasting valuable resources.  You want to be at or as near possible to empty on food before you level each time.

  • Combat: The combat in Solara is fairly superfluous.  It essentially plays out in front of you, but if you want to see the animation, it’s available for you to watch. However, you can press the skip button in the top right-hand corner during these scenarios to quickly hop out and get onto the next quest or building as quickly as possible.

Quick Tips:

  • Castle Level and Fighters: At the end of the day, the castle level determines everything.  With the castle level capping out your character level, and you not having any control over combat, you simply have to put yourself in a position to win based on the rules the game has governed.  There’s a finite amount of character slots in any given battle, a maximum level cap for all characters at any given time, and no control over the battlefield.  Get all your characters to your castle cap level, and you’re certain to win your quest engagements.
  • So Many Fighter Options, But Don’t Be Fooled: For most players of this series, if you pick out a single character in each of the archetypes and keep each of them to the level cap, you’ll have no issues completing quests.  There’s no reason in wasting your food resources on multiple characters of the same type, as the game doesn’t really punish you or ask you to maintain characters in such a fashion.  Letting the others fall by the wayside is most prudent in order to progress faster through the game.
