Shot Factor is an interesting mix of a casual first person shooter and a math puzzler. You need to build your weapon with numerical blocks, then use it to blast waves of enemies. Rinse and repeat. It’s a decent idea, but it’s not without its challenges.

Which is where this guide comes in. We’ve played a lot of Shot Factor and uncovered some strategies that we think are going to help you get the most out of the game. Use these suggestions and you’ll be killing everything that moves in no time flat.

It makes no odds whether you’ve already built a few mathematical weapons or you’re about to swap your first block, there’s going to be something here to help you out. With than in mind, let’s get on with it – here are the best hints, tips and cheats for Shot Factor.

Think about the math

When you’re building your gun, think about how the equation is going to help you out. You should always try and put + blocks before x blocks, to make sure you’re getting the most out of the multiplication boost. Play around with the blocks to ensure you’re using the most powerful gun you can be.

Keep shooting

Whenever you’re on the move, keep shooting. You can often hit far off enemies while you’re travelling between sections, and that can give you a boost when you finally reach them. Always be blasting and you’ll do just fine.

Upgrade evenly and often

Make sure you spend your gems on upgrading your grid and the speed your gun fires at. The more space on your grid, the more creative you’re going to be able to be with block placement. The quicker your gun fires, well, the quicker your gun is going to fire.

Avoid the bombs

The bomb attachment isn’t really all that useful. It takes up a lot of space on the grid, and you’ll need to fire off a lot of shots to actually launch an explosive device. Instead, focus on getting the highest hit rate you can from the other blocks you’ve been provided with. Only use the bomb if you absolutely have to.

Try the laser

The laser gives a massive boost to your attack power, so it’s well worth using if the blocks you’ve got aren’t giving you the oomph you need. Remember that if you fail a level, you’ll get dropped back in the constructor with different blocks to make your gun out of as well.
