Customer tips:

It’s important to familiarize yourself with the types of customers in the game. There are 12, each with different degrees of tipping and patience. Here are some examples of the customers paying habits and their temperaments. You can also look at the "How to Play" tab in the game menu:

Great tippers but impatient: Businesswoman, Businessman, Bride (pink dress with tiara)

Okay tips and patient: Woman with the brown skirt, Man with grey pants, Prom queen (little pink dress)

Okay tips and patient: Male student

Okay tips but Impatient: Female student

Bad tips and Impatient: Punk boy and Goth girl

Bad tips but very patient: Grandma and Grandpa

Upgrade tips:

As you progress through the game, there are several upgrades you can purchase to help you manage all the customers. Here’s a list of some of them:

Coffee machine: Coffee comes in handy when you are trying to keep customers happy while they wait. Depending on the level that you are on you can make up to 4 cups of coffee at a time. You cannot make more coffee until you’ve used all the cups allowable according to the upgrade that you bought. If your machine makes 3 cups of coffee max, you can only make more when you’ve served all 3 cups.

Trendy uniforms: New uniforms will help Sally move about the salon faster so she can get all her work done quickly and efficiently.

Assistants: There are 3 different types of assistants that you can hire to help Sally in the salon. The hair washing and hair drying assistants will wash and dry the hair for you, leaving you able to take care of someone else at another station. The Barista will make sure that there’s always coffee brewing. (As soon as she sees that you’ve served the last cup she will start brewing the next pot.)

Patience-Inducing Chairs: These chairs can be purchased for most of the stations except for the hair washing station, and will make sure that your customers have more patience to wait for you. The easiest way to tell that your clients are sitting in these types of chairs is by looking at the color of the hearts that beat next to them. If their hearts are blue then they are sitting in a chair that induces patience.

Waiting Tables with Magazines: Magazines ensure that the clients are able to maintain their hearts for a longer period of time. They also serve as a visual cue that you’ve been keeping that customer waiting. I usually like to use these when the shop has closed because it gives me a chance to catch up with customers that have been waiting at other stations. Plus, you also know that nobody else will be coming into the salon.

You don’t have to wait until the end of the day, though; just use magazines when it suits you the best. The magazines can be used at any station, but the customer will usually throw them back on the table as they move to another station. Once they’ve thrown the magazine you can always give them another one once they’ve settled in their next chair.

Upgraded Washing Station: When you upgrade to these chairs you will be able to wash the customer’s hair much quicker than before. This will allow you to get customers to the styling station faster and make room for the other clients that are waiting to get their hair washed.

Aromatherapy Candles: Don’t waste your candles when there are only a couple of customers in the salon. Your candles will affect every customer in the salon so make sure the salon is nice and full to get the most bang for your buck.

  • As you earn enough money and you familiarize yourself with the upgrades, buy the ones that you think will help you the most. I personally hired the assistants first but the game recommends that you purchase additional stations first. The more chairs that you have in the salon, the more clients you will be able to serve. By the end of game you will have purchased all the upgrades — that’s why it’s important for you to pick which ones will help you depending on which level you are on and what areas you need the most help with at that time.

    General tips & tricks:

  • Keep your customers happy by giving them the service that they request. You will know what service they want (cut, color etc.) when you see them smile. If you don’t give them the service they are requesting, you will lose a heart and make the customer unhappy. Smiling customers earn an extra heart.
  • Serve customers as fast as you can to keep them happy. Happy customers leave bigger tips. If you make them wait too long they will get angry and leave.
  • It’s a good idea to performs tasks in advance. You can queue up to 5 different tasks for Sally to do. If you decide you don’t want to perform a certain task in a certain order you can right click that command in order to cancel it. This will allow you to serve somebody else that may need immediate attention. You can look at the check marks with numbers that are at the bottom of each chair to see who’s to be served next.
  • While you are at the cash register ringing up sales you can take that time and place clients in their next station, serve them coffee and hand out magazines.
  • Give customers coffee to give them a boost. If you give coffee to somebody that has their hearts full, they will not accept it. However, customers that are in the waiting area and have their hearts full will accept a magazine. The magazine will help them keep their hearts happy for a longer period of time. Like I said before, the happier the customer the bigger the tip!
  • Try to perform services in an order that will keep the flow going. You don’t have to finish one customer at a time.
  • It’s best to try and queue things. You can click up to 5 customers in advance. This will keep you moving and able to do other things in between Sally moving from station to station. If possible try to keep Sally moving in a circular pattern around the salon.
  • Try to take customers in the order that will benefit you the most. For example, you may want to take care of the businesswoman and the businessman first since they tip very well but they do not have a lot patience for waiting around. If you’re a risk-taker you can lose a low tipper in hopes that a big tipper will come through the door in their place, allowing you to earn more.
  • If you’re running out of time and you need to move some customers quickly out of the yellow chairs, try to take the customers that need a hair cut first instead of the people that needed to color their hair. The people who need a cut usually move to another station right after the cut, but the people who need to color their hair usually stick around for a cut afterwards before you can move them out of the yellow chair.
  • You can replay any completed level at any time. Just go back to the main map and click on whatever level you wish to replay. The advantage of replaying a level is that you are able to play them with all the currently purchased shop items. Replaying levels with your new upgrades can allow you to earn a little extra cash for spending in the shop or for boosting your score. You also get to see how much more money you were able to make from the original time that you played that level.
  • Try to move as many customers out of the waiting area as quickly as possible. When you are trying to finish a level that requires a high $ goal, you need to serve as many people as possible. Every time you get somebody out of the waiting chair you get a chance to get somebody else to come in and thus earn more money. In between taking care of other customers, make sure to serve as much coffee and hand out as many magazines as possible.
  • Once you’ve reached your "expert goal," all remaining customers will only request one or two more services and then they will make their way to the cash register. When you know that a customer will put you over the "expert goal," make that customer wait at the cash register as long as you can in order to make sure that all remaining customers will request as many services as they want. Doing so will give you an opportunity to make as much money as you can for that level. If the customer has been waiting too long at the register, you can give them coffee in order to fill up their hearts.
  • On shop #7 ("Sunny Beach") the position of the chairs will move around so you will have to pay extra attention to where some of the new stations have been moved to.
