Rope and Demolish is a game about attaching a rope to structures, then pulling that rope with a truck and dragging the structure down. You need to place your rope carefully, making sure you’re going to pull out the most important parts of the building in order to drag it all to the ground in a crumbled heap.

It’s a pretty fun idea, but there are some parts that you might struggle with. That’s why we decided it was a good idea to write this guide. We’ve played a decent amount of Rope and Demolish and now we’re only too happy to share the strategies we’ve learned. Follow these suggestions to make your destruction even more satisfying.

It makes no odds whether you’re pulling out your first rope or you’ve already dragged down all manner of buildings, bridges and towers – there’s going to be something here that’ll take your skills to the next level. So let’s get on with it – here are the best hints, tips and tricks for Rope and Demolish.

Learn from your mistakes

If you fail a level, look at what went wrong and think about how you can avoid making the same mistakes again. Maybe a large chunk didn’t shatter, or a storey remained standing. Whatever the case, think about how you can reposition your rope in order to drag the structure down next time.

Wrap and loop

Don’t forget to wrap your rope around the pillars and posts. Just threading through isn’t going to help you out that much – you’ll pull, the rope will straighten and you’ll only manage to drag down whatever your grappling hook is attached to. Wrapping and looping are the way to win.

Keep pulling

Keep your finger pushed down on the screen for as long as it takes. Sometimes the green arrow will appear, but that doesn’t mean you have to tap it just yet. If you think you can still destroy some things, then keep pulling. You’ll be surprised how often you can complete a level even when things are looking dire.

Don’t get stuck

If you hit something with your grappling hook, even if you’ve still got rope to extend, you’re going to get stuck. You’ll have to pull whether you want to or not. Or, more accurately, you’ll have to restart the level. Move slow, move careful and make sure you’re using all the rope you’ve got.

What are the stars for?

At the moment, the stars don’t seem to be for anything. They tell you how well you’ve done in a level, but there isn’t anything you can spend them on, or anything that they unlock. With that in mind, it’s really not worth your while watching the videos to increase your stars when you’ve completed a level.
