Game Introduction – Robot Rising

Robot Rising is an adventure game developed by Stomp Games. In this game, you will fight with your robots through futuristic complexes. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to construct, improve upon, and do batle with the best robots possible. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to play your best game.

Quick Start Guide

Getting Started

  • Robot Rising can be accessed by clicking the “Play Now!” option at the top of this page.
  • Afterward, you’ll be taken to the game’s main menu. Here you can check on the games you’re currently involved in, and view whether or not it’s your turn.
  • When you start Robot Rising, ROM will walk you through a short tutorial to explain the basics of play.

 Robot Rising Basics

  • In Robot Rising, the Base is your home camp, where you build, maintain and upgrade your robots. The Master Control is the main building in your base; upgrading it will unlock more buildings, and allow you to further upgrade other existing structures.
Robot Rising
  •  There are several factories you can build in your base, such as the Robotics factory, the Weapon factory and the Armor factory. Here you research and manufacture new items or research parts that will make your robot stronger.
Robot Rising
  •  In the robot hangars, you can find your robots, and choose which one you want to take into the complexes. Each robot needs it’s own hangar. Having multiple robots allows you to try different play styles: sometimes you may like having a hyper-fast robot, while at other times you might prefer a robot that focusses on brute force and fire power.
Robot Rising
  •  The Data Archive is where you can read the data articles you find in the complexes and follow the storyline of Robot Rising.

 Arming your robot

  • Your robot’s equipment is divided into different categories, such as weapons, armor and mobility. A category can have between 1 and 4 slots, depending on your robot. As your robot levels up, more slots will be unlocked and you can combine the best of different kinds of equipment.
Robot Rising
  • When choosing your equipment, hover your mouse over the equipment to compare statistics with what you have currently equipped. If a statistic is shown green, it means it’s better than your current equipment.
Robot Rising
  • When it comes to weapons, there are four kinds: laser, explosive, fuel and close combat. Laser weapons are the strongest and fastest, but damage is limited to the target you’re shooting. Explosive weapons fire, well, explosives! Upon impact, they damage all the surrounding enemies as well. Fuel weapons are essentially flame throwers, which have a long range and damage any enemy in their  path. Close Combat weapons are melee-style, with short range but great damage when a blow is landed.
Robot Rising
  • TIP: You should choose your weapons to whichever style you like best, although variety will generally make things easier. When a second slot opens up, make sure you combine the fast laser with either an explosive weapon or a fuel weapon. Close Combat weapons are usually best used when facing Elites or Champions.
  • ‘Alternative fires’ that come with a certain weapon can be found in your quick-bar.

Into the complex

  • By using the Teleportal in your base, you will be able to go into the complexes. After choosing the difficulty level, a random level will be generated.
  • The basic goal is very simple: find the gold exit portal to escape the complex, picking up any resources you find along the way. There is a lit-up path that goes through the complex that will always end you up at the exit. This path is also shown on the map, so that whenever you venture off the path, you can always find your way back, and you can always find your way to the end of the complex.
  • The real adventure in Robot Rising, however, can be found off the beaten path. You will find bigger threats, bigger enemies, but also bigger rewards and many more drop boxes. Do you have the guts? It will be worth it!
Robot Rising
  • Aside from enemies, you will encounter environmental hazards as well, such as electric rods, slamming walls or floor blades. Be careful and try to understand their pattern to avoid them.
Robot Rising
  • Spread through the levels, you will also find a variety of barrels. Yellow explosive barrels create a big explosion that does big damage to your enemies (but you as well!). Blue barrels slow down any enemies caught in ‘the blast’, while purple barrels stuns enemies.
Robot Rising
  • You will also find status terminals. When clicking on one, it will give you a status boost. Green terminals refill your health, yellow terminals give you a big temporary armor boost, white terminals temporary increase your speed and grey terminals will make you invisible to enemies (until you attack them).
Robot Rising
  • Another element found in the complex is the vacuum transporter. When you’ve build a receiving transporter in your base and thereafter find a tube in the complex, you can use it to send the resources you collected back to your base. Now, if you die in the complex, you will not lose or have consumed the resources you ‘sent home’.

Enemies

  • There are three main types of enemies: regular enemies, elite enemies and champion enemies. The elites and champions are extremely strong, so be extra careful when you’re around them or you will not survive the encounter. Try to remember the attack patterns of enemies to better understand how to avoid taking damage.
Robot Rising
  • Turrets can be very dangerous if you get caught off-guard, which happens quite easily when you’re surrounded by enemies. When you see a target on you, or near you, get out of the way; as long as you’re not on the target, you will not receive damage.

General tips

  • Destroy anything that looks breakable in the environment to collect extra resources.
  • You don’t actually need to pick up resources to collect them. As soon as you’ve destroyed an enemy or environmental items, they will automatically be collected.
  • Try to carefuly balance your health and when to use a repair kit: not so soon that you end up using a lot more, but not so late that you risk being destroyed. I usually tend to use a repair kit when my health drops below 200.
  • If you’re near a health terminal but still have almost full health, try and remember its location and backtrack to it later when you’re lower on health.

Battle tips

  • If you’re facing a strong but slow enemy, try to outrun them and attack them from a distance.
  • If there is an explosive barrel but no enemies next to it, try to lure enemies into the vicinity of the barrel and blow it up.
  • The explosion of turret fire or damage of environmental hazards also does damage to your enemies. Lure them into the line of fire to make your life a little easier.
  • Explosive barrels can be very helpful in taking a big chunk of health out of multiple enemies, but be careful not to get damaged yourself. Be too close to an explosion and it can instantly destroy you.
  • Explosions of your own explosive weapons do damage your own robot.
