Reverse 1999 Tuning is one of the most important parts of combat, which is why I created this guide! It takes a little while to get your head around both Tuning sets and how to use them effectively, so let’s get started.

Reverse 1999 is a turn-based gacha game that features RPG elements and tactical combat. Embark on a brand-new adventure as you reside in a world where arcanists and humans live together. You play as the “Timekeeper”, a being who can travel back in time. You’ve been tasked to destroy Manus Vindictae’s plot and to discover the trust of 1999.

Reverse 1999 Tuning Guide

Not quite sure what Tuning is? It’s a feature that can make battles just that little bit easier.

What is Tuning?

Firstly, I’ll stick to the basics! You’ll gradually unlock Tuning abilities (or skills) as you progress through the main story. It takes quite a while to unlock every current feature in the game, so don’t worry if you don’t have everything in-game yet.

First Melody is the first Tuning skill that you’ll receive when completing 1-14 of the main questline. The Grand Orchestra Tuning skill is obtained by completing every one of the training stages – if you’re not too sure how to find these training stages, tap the notepad icon when you’re on the map for the main questline!

Luckily, both of these skills don’t use up Moxie and are purely used to provide a little boost during combat. Instead, they need something called Tuning Points.

First Melody

This Tuning skill can replenish the Moxie that has been used to move cards around your deck and the overall cost of an attack/buff/heal ability. This set is basically used to keep a constant regeneration of passive Moxie, which is helpful when you’re still trying to get used to the game’s mechanics! Plus, the amount of Moxie Vertin has at the beginning of a battle is increased thanks to First Melody.

Incantations

  • Created a 1-star Incantation straight away, which can then be used with another 1-star Incantation to create a 2-star
  • Randomly alters Incantations

To actually use the First Melody Tuning set, you’ll spot it on the screen during combat. From here, you can then select which skill you want to use at that moment.

Grand Orchestra

As mentioned above, the only way to obtain the Grand Orchestra Tuning skill set is by completing every training stage. This one’s a little more difficult to use, as the overall costs are increased. You also don’t get the passive regeneration of Moxie, meaning you’ll have to be a little more proactive with how your cards line up in your deck. The benefits of Grand Orchestra take a little longer to show up in combat than the fast-paced boosts of First Melody – I’d suggest saving this set for a boss fight or a battle with plenty of rounds!
