Rescue Cut – Rope Puzzle is a challenging new puzzler that tasks you with rescuing a tied up citizen by cutting a variety of ropes in the correct order to lead him to the exit.

These ropes might have him tied up, might be holding up traps, or might see you swing into spikes. Being cautious and planning ahead is the order of the day, as you strive to keep your character safe.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how Rescue Cut works before providing a bunch of tips and tricks to help you master it.

Rescue Cut – Rope Puzzle: How it Works

Rescue Cut – Rope Puzzle is a pretty standard puzzler. It challenges you to rescue a citizen who is literally tied to the ceiling by cutting his rope to free him. Once freed, your citizen will run straight to the exit.

While the early levels are absolutely as simple as that, things do start to ramp up a bit the further you get. Obstacles will appear, including spikes, as well as potentially helpful mechanics like springy flooring that can throw you up to higher platforms.

The real challenge is in deciding the order that you approach cutting the various different ropes in. Do you cut the citizen free straight away? Or cut the trap so it swings out of the way? Is it best to let the citizen jump on the springy floor if there’s spikes on the ceiling?

These are the types of difficult decisions you’ll have to make over the course of the game, which increases considerably in difficulty later on.

Rescue Cut – Rope Puzzle: Tips and Tricks

  • Plan ahead: Don’t just start a level and cut the first rope you see, as that will just likely end in the civilian’s death. Instead, actually take your time and assess what’s going on. Is it safe? Are there any traps?
  • The game obeys the laws of physics: If your character is hanging from two ropes, one at a slant, and you cut the rope that isn’t at a slant the character will swing in the opposite direction of the slant. That’s because the game obeys the laws of physics – use that to your advantage.
  • Scan the entire level for traps: Traps aren’t always placed right by your character or swinging from a rope. They can be attached to the ceiling or walls too, so keep a close eye out for any at the beginning of a level.
  • Your character falls down slopes: Your character won’t run up slopes – he only knows how to fall. You just make sure he falls in the right direction, and preferably not into a pit of spikes.
  • Boosters aren’t always helpful: You know those floor springs and all other types of helpful booster? Well, not all of them are actually helpful. If there are spikes on the ceiling, for example, you’ll just be flung onto them.
