How to Get Opal in Prospecting

To find Opal in Prospecting, you need to head to the following locations:

• Fortune River
• Rubble Creek Sands
• Magma Furnace (Volcano island/Caldera island)
• Sunset Beach
• Rubble Creek Deposits
• Volcanic Sands
• Windswept Beach

As the Opal mineral is of Epic rarity, it’s not too difficult to get but is still slightly uncommon. You need a decent Shovel and Pan to increase your chances of it appearing, but you can also utilise the crafting feature by making necklaces, rings, and bracelets for your character.

Depending on the accessories you equip, your stats will change. For the Opal mineral, I recommend prioritising boosting your Luck stat but making sure that your Shovel is at Toughness 3+ so you can dig around various locations.

Why Do You Need Opal?

There are several reasons why Opal is a required mineral in Prospecting. The first is crafting recipes, the second is quests, and the third is your Collection Journal!

Opal in Crafting

At the time of writing this guide, two recipes include Opal.

Opal Amulet (Epic rarity)

Requires:

• 1 Opal
• 3 Jade
  • Must be above 0.3kg
• 400K in-game coins

Effects:

• Increases your chance of getting Modified items by 0 to 90%
• Increases your Luck by 2 to 13

Lightkeeper’s Ring (Legendary rarity)

Requires:

• 2 Opal
• 1 Luminum
• 2 million in-game coins

Effects:

• Increases the selling value of Minerals by 5 to 25%
• Increases your Dig Speed by 5 to 25%
• Increases your chance of getting Modified items by 5 to 25%

Quests

The Tired Prospector NPC by the shop at Fortune River gives you the ‘Prospector’s Bet‘ questline. The first task requires you to find one Opal, one Emerald, and five Lapis Lazuli. Once complete, you obtain 200 Meteor Shards, 250K in-game coins, and 20K EXP. After completing the first quest, you then unlock the second and last one in the questline!
