Prison Life is a simulator that sees you taking on the role of a prison guard. There are loads of different challenges that you need to complete to keep your prison running, from finding contraband to stopping fights. Some of those challenges are tougher than others. Which is why we’ve written this guide.

We think we’ve answered all the questions you’re going to have about Prison Life, and if you follow these hints, tips and cheats you’re going to find your jail running pretty darn smoothly. If there’s anything else you want to know, make sure you ask us in the comments.

How to unlock the women’s prison

There are two ways to unlock the women’s prison. The first one involves spending $2.99 at the start of the game to unlock it right from the very off. That’s a pretty expensive option and we’d suggest taking the second path instead.

That path involves playing through the first ten days in the men’s prison. Once you’ve done that you can swap between the prisons whenever you fancy. There are no differences between the prisons, just in one you’ll be dealing with male prisoners and in the other female.

How to get more cash

There’s only one way to get more cash in the game. When you get to the end of a day, you’ll be given a set amount – $50 – for your troubles. You’ll also be given the option to multiply that by watching a video.

It’s not quite as simple as that, though. You need to tap to stop a moving bar in the right place to get the highest multiplier. It’s pretty easy once you know how – aim for the spot in the middle of the bar and you’ll get the most money.

How to spot impostors

There are two ways to spot impostors. One is to check their prison ID against the one you’ve got. If the number and picture don’t match, then you’ve got an impostor and should report them.

The other way is to check their demeanour. Impostors always look like they’re terrified of getting caught. If you see someone cowering, then it’s a good bet they’re in the wrong cell and you should shut them down.

How to pick dangerous messages

In some challenges you’ll need to pick dangerous messages and shred them. There’s a really simple way to make sure you’re always shredding the right ones – just look at the marks that are on the paper.

If there’s a black mark, whatever shape it’s in, then it’s a dangerous message and you need to destroy it. If there’s a lipstick mark, that’s fine, and you should put it in the pile next to the shredder.

How to find contraband

When you’re scanning for contraband, you don’t just have to spot it. When you’ve found some, you need to hold the scanner over it until your device buzzes. That’s when you’re sure and you can take it away.

This goes for whether you’re looking for contraband on a person or in their room. Hold the scanner over the object for as long as it takes and you’re going to take away those dangerous materials.
