Pop Boom – Quick Start Guide

Pop Boom is a Match 3 arcade style puzzle game developed by CrowdStar and played on Facebook where you can make matches of 3 or more bubbles of the same color on an 8 x 8 game grid for large point groupings. Getting Started

• You will need an active Facebook account to play Pop Boom. If you need to register follow this link – http://www.facebook.com
• Click on the “Play Now” button at the top of this page to play Pop Boom!
• You are given 2,000 coins to start out with and the game will take you through a brief video tutorial.
• There is a pause button at the bottom left of the screen but the game does not begin until you make your first move.
• Be sure to visit the Pop Boom Facebook Fan page and invite Neighbors to play and to wage challenges against you.

How to Play

• The game is played on an 8 x 8 game grid with 64 bubbles of 6 different colors randomly placed on the grid.
• You must make matches of bubbles of the same color of 3 or more as many times as possible in 60 seconds.
• NOTE – The game does not start until you click and switch out your first bubble so you can actually study the game grid before you begin playing which can offer a huge advantage.
• The first bubble your cursor touches sticks to your cursor and you will need to place it on top of another colored bubble which causes it to switch places.
• You can move the colored bubble on your cursor over any other colored bubble on the grid and swap it out.
• Now you have a new color on the cursor and you have to strategically place it so that at least 3 bubbles are in a row. This will cause them to pop and disappear and more bubbles will rise up on the grid from the bottom filling in the areas where previous bubbles have popped.
• Bombs appear on random bubbles and if you match 4 or more of the same color bubble you will cause a bomb to be left behind on one of the bubbles.
• If you match 3 or more with a bubble bomb an entire area around the bomb will explode instead of just a few bubbles.
• The bombs will only detonate if matched with 3 or more of the same color bubbles but your goal is to get as many as possible to detonate at once.
• There is a score multiplier located to the left of the game grid. The more matches you make the higher the score multiplier will be.
• If you match items the right way you can detonate entire rows and columns of bubbles.

Purchase Upgrades

• Click on the “shop” button to purchase upgrades to improve your score.
• You can purchase Extra Time – 5 seconds for 400 Coins (Known as “Extra Time”) and you can purchase Extra Bombs placed on the grid at the start of your game for 700 coins. (Known as “Minefield”)
• There are only 2 upgrades available for purchase at this time but this may change as the game is updated.
• Upgrades can also be sent to you by friends if you request them. Occasionally you will be prompted to ask for friends to send these upgrades to you. If you click on “Request” your friends will be sent a notification asking them to send you an upgrade.
• You can send upgrades to your friends as well which will increase the chances they will send them to you.

Purchase additional Currency

• If you would like to purchase additional coins to purchase upgrades with you can do so using Facebook Credits.
• Click on the green “+” button next to the currency total and a menu will appear with options to purchase additional coins using Facebook credits.
• Facebook credits can only be purchased using a major credit Card, Paypal account and can sometimes be earned for trying various promotional items at Facebook.
• Facebook Credits can also be used in other CrowdStar Games.

Tips for higher Scores

• Arranging large groups of colors at the beginning of your turn is the best strategy for high points.
• Try to arrange your bubbles in a cross configuration shown in the image above leaving the center empty. When you place the middle bubble it will detonate the group. If you can place a bomb here you will have an even higher score.
• Arrange bubbles in H,T, or L formations whenever possible making sure your final bubble is what connects all of them.
• If you can build a large grouping of one color very quickly then place a bomb you will also yield higher scores.
• It seems you score higher totals when you attempt to make patterns and burst large grouping versus matching 3 bubbles over and over at a fast pace.
• Unlike other match 3 games the 60 second timer does not start to count down until you switch out your first colored bubble. This means you can study the game grid for a few moments before you start the game’s count down clock.

Challenge your Facebook Friends/Friend Leader board

• Click on the Challenge Button and then choose a friend from your list to challenge with a single game. You will then play a game and the score will be sent to your friend with the challenge.
• Your friend will play the game and the winner will be announced and a cash bonus awarded to each player with the winner earning a higher bonus.
• The amount of the bonus depends on the players overall scores.
• You will note that any of your Facebook friends that play Pop Boom will be listed along the right side of the game grid in the order of their high score.
• Your name is in this list with your highest score next to your name.
• If you click on any of these friends names you can publish a challenge on their Facebook profile page.
• These scores are likely reset back to zero once per week.
• Once you have given permission to CrowdStar to publish your high scores will be posted on the Facebook Live Feed and on your Profile page for your friends to see along with a link allowing them to play as well.
• Note that if you do not want your information published click on the “X” in the upper right hand corner as there is no button offered to skip the publish feature.
