Poeltl FAQ

Now, we’ll answer a bunch of questions you may have about Poeltl.

What Is Poeltl?

Poeltl is a Wordle-like guessing game that’s all about Basketball. You have to guess a specific basketball player every single day, with each guess providing you with minimal information to help you narrow it down. You really need to know your basketball players to perform well here.

How Does Poeltl Work?

You have eight guesses to find the correct basketball player every single day. Each time you guess, you’re given the following information about the player:

  • Team
  • Conference
  • Division
  • Position
  • Height
  • Age
  • Number

If one of these columns matches your player, it will be coloured in yellow. You also get to know if the numbers in the height, age, or shirt number columns are higher or lower than those of the player you’re supposed to guess.

Got Any Tips and Tricks?

Before we give you today’s solution, here are a few tips and tricks to help you for future puzzles:

  • Go middle of the road: For your first few guesses, try and go middle of the road. Guess a player that’s roughly average in terms of height, age, and player number. This will help guide your subsequent guesses.
  • Research: So you’ve correctly guessed the team but not the player – use this information to your advantage. Pull up a roster – preferably with stats – and try and narrow down the correct player. Do this for all of the metrics.
  • Silhouette’s your friend: There is no penalty for using the silhouette, so use it at all times. You may recognise a feature of the player you’re guessing that helps get you to the correct answer faster.
