Looking for a One Piece Odyssey controller fix? Don’t worry, we’re here to help! Errors are irritating when trying to play a game, especially when it prevents you from using a certain device. Many people like to sit back and relax with a controller as they play their new favourite video game – but what do you do if the controller encounters an error?

We’ve created this guide to help you find the best solution! Make sure to bookmark this page to refer back to when trying to fix the One Piece Odyssey controller issue.

One Piece Odyssey is the latest RPG in the One Piece franchise. If you’ve watched the anime, and/or read the manga, you’ll more than likely love this game! The game itself was created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise, making this RPG all the more special for the fans. Luffy and his Straw Hat Crew set sail across the New World, but they end up shipwrecked after a storm. As you progress through the game, you’ll be able to play a variety of characters, such as Franky and Usopp.

One Piece Odyssey Controller Fix

Now, let’s get on with the guide. We’ll go over the various ways to fix the One Piece Odyssey controller errors.

Steam

Some of the issues may stem directly from Steam.

Steam Controller Settings

The fix may be as simple as configuring your Steam controller settings. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Make sure One Piece Odyssey is closed
  2. Open up the Steam window
  3. Open Steam settings
  4. Click the “Controller” tab and click “General Controller Settings”
  5. Select the box for your controller (Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, etc)
  6. Relaunch One Piece Odyssey

Steam Overlay

The Steam overlay could be the root cause of the problem. Annoyingly, enabling and disabling are known to fix the controller issues – so you’ll have to try out both! If you’re not sure about how to configure your Steam overlay, here’s how to do it:

  1. Open up the Steam window
  2. Click the “In-game” tab
  3. Check or uncheck the option “Enable Steam overlay while in-game”

Steam Big Picture Mode

Running a Steam game through Big Picture Mode can actually fix quite a lot of games at times. It doesn’t hurt to try, so let’s give this one a go! If you’ve never used Big Picture Mode before, here’s how to set it up:

  1. Open up the Steam window
  2. In the top right of the window (next to your Steam profile name), you’ll find a box with two arrows inside – click this!
  3. This will open Big Picture Mode
  4. Next, click on “Library” and select the game you want to play

Alternatively, you can configure the controller settings from Big Picture Mode too.

  1. Follow the same steps as above, but click on “Manage Games” to open up the menu
  2. Click on “Controller Options”
  3. Click on the “Force On” option
  4. Restart Steam
Steam Input Disable/Enable

Similarly to the Steam overlay fix, you can also try enabling, or disabling, the Steam Input.

  1. Open up Steam
  2. Right-click on the game, and click “Properties”
  3. Click “Controller”
  4. Click on the drop-down menu and select “Use default settings”
  5. Select “Disable” or “Enable”
  6. Relaunch the game to see if the issue has been fixed – you may have to try both ways!

Steam Input Forced On/Forced Off

  1. Open up Steam
  2. Open Big Picture Mode
  3. Click on “Library” and select the game
  4. Click “Manage Games” and select “Controller Options” under “Steam Input”
  5. Click on the drop-down for the option “Change the Steam Input per-game settings”
  6. Select “Forced On” or “Forced Off” – you may have to try both!
  7. Confirm the selection to save your changes
  8. Restart Steam
  9. If Forced On doesn’t work, try Forced Off!

Verify File Integrity

Verifying your files on Steam can sometimes be the quickest solution to a problem.

  1. Right-click on the game and select “Properties”
  2. Click “Local Files” and then “Verify Game Integrity”

Other Fixes

If you’ve tried fixing the controller issue directly from Steam itself and it still isn’t working, try these fixes too!

Update Drivers

Whenever you come across any issues, you should always make sure you’re checking your drivers. Outdated drivers can cause a variety of problems, so you should always remember to keep on top of them! (The main ones to look out for when it comes to this current controller error are Network Drivers and Graphics Drivers)

  1. Open up the search box on your taskbar
  2. Type in “Device Manager”
  3. Right-click on the device you want to update
  4. Click “Search automatically for updated driver software”
  5. Click “Update Driver”
  6. You can also visit the device’s official website to see if there’s a new driver to download  (This is best when Windows can’t detect a driver update!)

Alt+Enter

This one may sound straightforward, but it is!

  1. Launch One Piece Odyssey
  2. Press Alt+Enter on your keyboard – this will exit the game screen!
  3. Return to the game screen to see if your controller suddenly works – if not, try the other fixes that we’ve included in this guide
