But, Oilman is a pretty engaging experience, albeit one with some layers you’re going to have to peel back if you want to get the most out of it.

You’ll want to pickaxe every rock that you see, even when you’ve discovered the wells of oil. The more rocks you smash, the more gems you’ll get. The more gems you get, the more money you can make. Clear out every rock in the mines before you move on to the next island.
When you’re mining, keep an eye out for secrets. These might be chests, barrels, doors or ladders. Whatever they are, there’s usually a boost waiting for you, be it more cash or some special moves that can speed up your mining capabilities. You’ll find all the secrets if you follow the first suggestion.
Whenever you go back to the top of the mine to drop off your oil and gems, make sure you go to the tool store and upgrade your storage capacity and pickaxe. The more powerful your pickaxe, the quicker you can hack through the rocks, and the more oil you can collect, the longer you can spend underground.
