GENERAL TIPS

Timed vs. Leisurely modes

In Leisurely mode you’ll receive significantly more time to complete each scene, and you’ll suffer no penalties for wrong clicks.
In Timed mode you’ll receive a time penalty for wrong clicks, but you can also earn extra time for clicking on items in rapid succession.

Hints system

Click on the center of the compass in the lower left corner to use a hint. The number of hints you have remaining is represented by the lit green circles around the compass.
Unless a regular compass, the compass point doesn’t actually point to where you have to look. Instead, pay attention to how quickly the compass needle turns. The slower the needle turns, the closer you are to the item. When your cursor is right over top of the item, the compass will stop altogether (this is when you should click the mouse to pick up the item).

Lore Pages

There are 16 lore pages to collect throughout the game. Some of these appear as secret hidden objects to find (like Hints, they don’t appear on the list of items, but you can look for the pages and click on them), and others you’ll earn by deciphering secret codes.
Each lore page reveals information about the real-life Legend of Oak Island. To read the lore pages you have unlocked, click on the red button marked "Lore Pages" in the lower right side of the screen. The unlocked padlocks represent the pages you’ve unlocked. Click on the lock symbol to read the entry.

Devices
Once you find all the parts to a device to assemble it, you’ll be able to select it at any time by clicking the corresponding tab along the bottom of your screen. You’ll need to use the Mysterious Device quite often to reveal secret codes, but you’ll only need to use the other devices a couple of times.

Mysterious Device

This beeping device can be used to find coded messages. It blinks slowly when you’re far away from objects, and beeps more quickly the closer you get to an item. When you’re right on top of the item, the device will become fully lit and emit a continuous beep.
There are 9 Secret Codes hidden throughout the game. Use the Mysterious Device to reveal them, then solve the code to receive bonuses.
To use the Mysterious Device, click on its tab, then click a second time to turn it on. If there’s nothing to find in that level, the device will remain dark.

Magnifying Glass – Use the magnifying glass as you would in real life – it makes everything you see slightly bigger. The magnifying glass is useful in searching for smaller objects.

Nightvision Scope – Run this device over the scene to reveal hidden items that you couldn’t otherwise see with the naked eye.

X-Ray Scope – Like Nightvision goggles, you can run this device over the scene to reveal hidden items.

WALKTHROUGH

In this walkthrough I’ve circled the locations of all the lore pages, secret codes, and other special items (like tablet pieces and bricks). These will usually be circled in red. Locations of device parts have been circled in yellow. Extra compass hints are circled in green. Even though the rest of the items to find are randomized, on some occasions I’ll circle some of these items in blue to give you an idea of where you might see something you need.

Here’s where you learn how to use the Mysterious Device. Use it to find the code.

Mansion Basement – Secret Code #1

In this mini-game you must decode the message to by figuring out which letters replace each symbol.
To replace a symbol with a letter, click on the symbol you wish to replace, and then click on one of the letters of the alphabet at the bottom of the screen, or type in a letter on the keyboard.
If you’ve made a mistake, click on the letter you want to get rid of and press your computer’s Backspace key.
Letters that are in the correct place will be locked.
Tip: Start by figuring out single letters (which can either be "I" or "a", and work from there.

Once you’ve assembled the Night Scope, use it to reveal the location of the frog. (See screenshot below)

Select the scuba gear and click on the water to dive to the bottom of the hole.

Mini-Game: Tunnel Dive

Your goal is to guide the compass down to the bottom of the screen. Click on the yellow arrows to make the compass move in a particular direction.
The compass will travel until it hits an obstruction (rock). Use these rocks to guide the compass downward, or it will float away.

Section 1:

Press the arrows in the following order: Down, Left, Down, Right, Down.

Section 2:

Press the arrows in the following order: Right, Down, Left, Up, Left, Down, Left, Down

This is another code puzzle, but with a twist. Instead of replacing symbols with letters, there are certain letters missing in the text and you have to replace them with the correct symbol.
In the screenshot below, I’ve filled in the missing letters in red. The symbols are arranged along the bottom, and I’ve indicated which letters they represent in yellow. Drag the correct symbols into the right spaces to complete the puzzle.

Investigation 5

Use the Mysterious Device on the wind chime as shown in the screenshot to reveal a secret code. Cracking the code will earn you the lore page "Historical Figures and Their Connection to Oak Island."

This room is full of keys, but there are only five "correct" ones. These are circled in the screenshot below.

After you’ve found all five keys, use your Magnifying Glass to zoom in on the chest, and click on the lock.

CHAPTER 5: ATLANTIS

Use the Mysterious Device on the submarine in the upper right corner to uncover a secret code. When you crack the code you’ll unlock the lore page "Atlantis?" and five minutes will be added to the final level.
