Mortimer Beckett and the Secrets of Spooky Manor is a hidden object game with a twist – not only are the parts hidden in the picture but they’re also broken into several pieces. General tips:

 

 

  • There is no time limit on the game, so you can take your time and find all the items.

     

     

  • On occasion, the last piece of an item will not be visible until other pieces of the puzzles have been put in place.

     

     

  • You will have an average of 10 – 15 hints at the beginning of each level. This may sound like a lot but when you are looking for fragmented pieces they can be used quicker than you think. Always leave the hints for last, until you really need them

     

     

  • Moving the mouse cursor over some spaces will indicate a hotspot. This is where you place a completed item from the inventory. The hotspot description will also be shown on the status bar.

     

     

  • Click the guide book for hints on what to do next

     

    If you’re stuck on a level, use the map to visit other rooms. You can return to a room at any time whether it’s finished or not.

     

  • The room that you find a completed piece in may not be the same room where you need to place it. You may have to find hot – spots in other rooms in which to place your inventoried items

     

     

  • Clicking too many times will make ghosts appear on your screen for a limited amount of time. They are there to distract you and don’t really interfere with the game. If you keep clicking, you will see several ghosts on your screen (I saw up to 5 at one time.) If they annoy you, you can go another room until the ghosts have disappeared.

    BASEMENT

     

    CELLAR:

  • Locked chest – skeleton key (a piece of the ghost machine starter will appear)

  • Magician’s kit – crystal ball

    GROUND FLOOR

    GUEST SALOON:

  • Clock face – clock dial

     

     

  • Cozy fire – full bucket of water (read the kitchen section below to find out how to get the full bucket of water)

     

     

  • Torn picture – canvas piece

     

     

  • Chain – hacksaw

    LOBBY:

     

     

  • Armchair – pillow

     

     

  • Gramophone – record

     

     

  • Hatless ghost – top hat (when you place the top hat on the hatless ghost the last piece of the hacksaw will appear)

     

     

    KITCHEN:

     

     

  • Hungry ghost – piece of cake (once you give the hungry ghost the piece of cake, the last piece of the empty bucket will appear next to her)

     

     

  • Empty vase – flowers

     

     

  • Tap water – empty bucket

     

     

  • Plate shelf – plate

     

     

  • Take the empty bucket and place it under the tap water and the bucket will fill with water. Use the bucket full of water on the cozy fire that is located in the guest saloon room.

     

     

    GUEST HOUSE

     

    CLOCK ROOM:

     

     

  • Watchmaker – jeweler’s loop

     

     

  • Clock – clock opener (once you place the clock opener on the clock the last piece of the razor will appear)

     

     

  • Clock face – hour hand

     

     

  • Teddy bear – teddy bear

     

     

    SPARE BEDROOM:

     

     

  • White horse – black horse

     

     

  • Night pots – chamber pot

     

     

  • Pillow – knife (last piece if the pincers will appear when you put the knife on the pillow)

     

     

  • Empty bottle – bottle ship

     

     

  • Bearded man – razor (part of the ghost machine will appear)

     

     

    HOMESTEAD:

     

     

  • Grass – grasshopper

     

     

  • Bird house – bird

     

     

  • Nailed plank – pincers (when you put the pincers on the nail plank, the last piece of the window hinge will appear where the plank was)

     

     

    ENTRY:

     

     

  • Closed window – window hinge

     

     

  • Umbrella holder – umbrella

     

     

  • Book – drawing

     

     

  • Dolls – doll

     

     

    GARDEN

     

    GARAGE:

     

     

  • Bumper – license plate

  • Oil drum – empty oil can

     

     

  • Candy machine – coin (part of the ghost machine starter will be revealed). Fill the empty oil can on the oil drum (located in the garage) and then use the full can of oil on the broken sharpening stone (located on the porch)

     

     

  • After the sharpening stone starts rolling use the blunt shears on the stone to sharpen them. Then take the sharp shears and place them on the thorny roses (located in the backyard)

     

     

    WINE CELLAR:

     

     

  • Piggy bank – hammer (a coin will appear once you break the piggy bank, use that coin on the candy machine that is located in the garage)

     

     

  • Marbles – marbles

     

     

  • 4 aces – ace

    CORRIDOR:

     

     

  • Oil lamp – matches (once you do this action the last piece of "open" sign will appear)

  • Suit of armor – helmet

     

     

  • Stuck attic stair – tools (read above, in the bathroom section, where it tells you how to unlock the "tools")

    ATTIC

     

    WEST TOWER:

  • Bowl of flour – strainer (once you do this action a key will appear)

     

     

  • Skeleton – skull

     

     

  • Balance scale – weight (the last piece of the watering can will appear on the bottom right side of the scale)

     

     

    ATTIC:

     

     

  • Steam machine – pipe

     

     

  • Jewelry hand – diamond ring

     

     

  • Tarantula spider – insect jar (once you perform this action the last piece of the scissors will appear)

     

     

  • Shaving kit – shaving brush

     

     

    EAST TOWER:

     

     

  • Deaf granny ghost – ear trumpet (the last piece of the "secret code" will be revealed in this room, once all the parts have been placed)

     

     

  • Chandelier – chandelier bowl

     

     

  • Heavy lock – key (the key that appears after you put the strainer in the bowl of flour)

     

     

  • Young plant – watering can (the last piece of the strainer appears)

     

     

  • Curtains – scissors (the last piece of the pipe will appear)

     

     

     

  • Place the pipe in the steam machine (located in the attic)

     

     

  • Go back to the Indian room (located in the West Wing) and click on the curtain that is on the far left side of the screen, a battery will appear

     

     

  • Go to the East Tower and place the key (that appeared from sifting the flour) on the heavy lock, this will unlock the Ghost Machine Room

     

     

    GHOST MACHINE ROOM:

     

     

  • After you have performed all the tasks above and all parts have been placed, proceed to the Ghost Machine Room.

     

     

  • Take the machine starter lock out of inventory and place it on the right side of the machine, over the green and red wires.

     

     

  • The machine will start.
