Game Introduction – Monster Life
Monster Life is a game developed by Gameloft where players acquire and train creatures to fight and build and design a home for them in the process. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to play your best game.
Quick Start Guide
- To download the game, click the “Play Now” button at the top of this page.
- Once downloaded, click the “play” button
- That’s it! You’re ready to start the game!
How to Play
- Launching: When you first start up the game, you’ll be introduced to your first “monster”, Diggster. From here, the game will prompt you to feed the little guy from a bottle. As you can tell from the above screenshot, there are two different types of currency in the game and the bottle you choose will confer what type of jumpstart you will get from this initial bottle.
- Coins: Coins are the base currency in the game. You will be able to collect these in a multitude of ways—from buildings you create to completing quests.
- Crystals: Crystals are the games premium currency. Crystals are accrued when you level and by doing various social media tasks, but the bulk of what you can buy in Monster Lifewith crystals will depend on you playing a lot and saving up, or simply by ponying up real world cash to purchase the items you desire.
- Evolution: As you complete tasks and have your creatures fight, your creatures “evolve” into bigger and better creatures more fit to fight the tougher foes you will encounter later in the game.
- Home Ranch: Once you’re done meeting your initial creature, you’ll be sent to your home ranch. This is for all intents and purposes your base of operations. From here you will build various structures that earn you gold and other goodies. As you can see from the screenshot, you can place the items where you want them and it will give you various options. Check mark allows you to place it, “X” deletes it, and there is also a rotate option. To move your structures, simply touch them and drag them where you’d like them!
- User Interface: The top information pane is really what you will want to pay attention to. It will show you your coin count, your “heart” count (more on hearts in a bit!), your crystal count, and finally your trainer level.
- Goals: Goals are essentially your quests. Anytime you want to see what you can do in the game, simply click the goal button to bring up the goal menu. Each goal has sub-goals that you must complete to earn trainer points and coins. Alternatively, if certain sub-goals are vexing you, you can pay crystals to simply skip them and get credit for completion.
- Fighting: Fighting in the game involves you adding at least one of your monsters into the mix. From there, you’ll notice a few new additions to your screen. Most important is the three main buttons in the middle of the screen. The monsters will duke it out regardless of what you do, but by clicking the attack button, for example, it will give your monster a much needed boost in attack power when it strikes. These battles are turn-based in nature, so the attack and defense can be utilized. Also, if you get low on health, you can also use the health button.
- Hearts: Each of these buttons require “hearts”, which is another currency the game has. You can note how many hearts you have remaining by the red “heart” icon at the top of the screen. Attack, defense and health all require four. Hearts regenerate through time, so this is essentially Monster Life’s “energy”. You can more hearts in the game’s store.
- Elements: Once of the major things that you will have to focus on as you acquire new monsters is their element. More importantly, you will have to know their relative strengths and weaknesses compared to other monsters. There is earth, water, fire and wind. The above screenshot will help guide you in the right direction as to what bests what.
- Daily Gifts: Each day you can receive daily gifts from the game. It is accessed in your home ranch by your barn, where a bell will be placed. When there is a bell icon over the bell itself, you know you’ve got a free gift waiting for you. Ringing the bell brings in your gift and you can choose from a free gift, a “silver” gift for 20 crystal, or a “gold” gift for 90 crystals. Gifts are typically structures, but also be new creatures.
- World Map: Here is a screenshot of a piece of the world map. This is where you will do your fighting. Each dot represents a particular challenge. Each successful completion will move you on to the next one, showering you with gold and trainer experience. There are four main locations with three islands, each with their own sets of challenges.
- Store: The store is where you will buy new monsters, structures, hearts, coins and crystals. Each has their own various price, whether it be in gold, crystal or cold hard cash.
Tips and Tricks:
- Management: Make sure that you are paying attention to the screen when fighting or going back to your ranch. There is always gold accruing at your structures, or gold popping out of monsters when you attack them. This will help when you’re looking to add new structures to place the monsters that you’ve purchased. Each monster needs a specific habitat to be placed in your care.
- Elements: As I mentioned before, elements are a vital part of combat in Monster Life. Do not put your monsters at a disadvantage by placing them against their superior elements. Exploit disadvantages for easy victories!
