Welcome to Gamezebo’s strategy guide of Monopoly Build-a-lot Edition.

This guide contains general tips, complete tables of the different buildings, as well as a walkthrough for the whole campaign of this game. We hope that this article provides all help and hints you might need if you get stuck.

GENERAL TIPS

  • Various symbols on houses indicate that something is wrong with the concerned house. A faucet or a light bulb mean that you have to respond immediately, which will cost you some money unless you already have built the Water Works and the Utility Co. A wrench means that the building needs to be repaired, you will need workers and materials to do so. In all of these cases the concerned houses won’t provide you with any rent until the problems are completely fixed. This also goes for upgrades, paintings and landscaping – while you do these tasks on houses they won’t provide any income. Therefore it is always a good idea to do all kinds of upgrades at the beginning of a rent cycle.
  • The little green bar on the top left-hand corner of the screen displays how much time you have to finish the level. The dent marks the point at which you have finish the level to get a gold ribbon.
  • The four tabs in the bottom of the screen are your main tools to play the game. The tab on the left-hand side displays your current income as well as the income cycle, and you can see how far you have proceeded with your goals. By clicking the second and the third tab you get to the "order-materials" and "train-workers" buttons. The last tab provides all blueprints, so you should click this one if you want to be able to activate a new building:

  • It is always better to train three workers and to order larger amounts of materials (at least 1000), because in this way it is cheaper for you, even without the Sawmill or the Workshop you get a discount for training more workers at the same time or for ordering more materials at once.
  • Before you can construct any building (except for the Cottage), you have to buy its blueprint at first. Those blueprints are rather expensive, so if one of your goals is to construct a new building for which you have to draft an appropriate blueprint, it is advisable to concentrate on the other goals for the moment. You can still draft the blueprint and construct the building(s) later on, when you have gathered enough money.
  • You can replay every level at any time. For one thing you can always select every level on the level map to replay it. For another thing you are always to able to restart the level you are currently playing.
  • If you are not able to perform any task, Mr. Monopoly will very likely explain to you why. In most cases you will simply lack materials or workers to perform certain tasks.
  • Houses and Hotels are very similar. Both of them can be upgraded, painted and sold. However, you won’t be able to inspect or landscape Hotels. Otherwise, Hotels are more profitable than Houses. You also have to take into account that you need four Houses in your possession at any level to build a Hotel.
  • When you build the CC & Chance Office in any level, yellow surprise cards will appear on random houses occasionally. Simply click on those cards:

  • A great way to easily earn some quick money is to purchase rundown houses, if possible even with low-ball offers. Restore them, and then simply put them up for sale. In this way you will make large profits without much effort.
  • It is not that hard to ensure that your low-ball offers will be accepted. Just as an example: If a Victorian goes up for sale, and you want to purchase it, the only thing for you to do is to put two of your Victorians up for sale. After this your low-ball offer will definitely be accepted. But you should consider that it always has to be the same type of house. This is a little bit unfair, because when you put up a Victorian for sale, you will get lower offers even if there is no other Victorian up for sale in that neighborhood.
  • Landmarks have the greatest effect when they are built between two houses or hotels. As an example, if you build a Mr. Monopoly Statue in between two Cottages, the overall appeal of your neighborhood will immediately increase by 60.
  • Be aware of the fact that layouts of levels change when you restart a level. However, the basic situation will still be the same, so you should be able to apply any strategy even if the arrangement of lots and houses has changed slightly.

Casual mode:

  • In fact, the casual mode contains one very long level for each of the ten different neighborhoods, beginning with Baltic Avenue, and ending with Boardwalk. In each level you have to gather a certain amount of money and reach a specific appeal for the neighborhood. To unlock the next neighborhood in casual mode, you have to beat the previous level at first. Since you start with only one blueprint, a few materials, workers, and not much money, these levels are long-time projects.

Trophies:

  • In the course of the game you will earn trophies for:
  1. earning $1,000,000.
  2. earning $10,000,000.
  3. completing the game.
  4. completing the first neighborhood.
  5. earning the first gold ribbon.

Congratulations, you have finished the game.”;
