Welcome to Gamezebo’s strategy guide for Masters of Mystery – Blood of Betrayal.

General Game Information

Hidden object game with three chapters and seven mini games.
Game can be played in timed or relaxed mode.
The game is played for story completion and there are no points awarded.
There are multiple achievement awards for passing milestones in the game. (See below)
Storyline revolves are Carrie a police officer whose father also a police officer has been missing for over seven years. When her Sargent is killed she discovers he and others were working undercover to expose a drug ring involving her Father and she learns he just might be alive after all.
The game has four inventory items that can be used in hidden object and find the difference screens. Magnifying glass, UV Filter, Flashlight and Fingerprint duster. Click on an item and use it whenever you wish after you complete the first screen of the game.
Hints are unlimited and recharge between uses. Click on the hint button and the item at the top of the list will be revealed.
There is a delay penalty for multiple rapid clicks.
If you are in timed mode and run out of time you will be prompted to start the level over again and you may have a different list of items to find on the replay.
Usually when you are at the game map and have the option of clicking on "Crime Lab" that is usually a mini game.
Green items in your hidden object list usually trigger storyline dialogue.
When playing the find the difference screens note that items are either there or not there. No color changes or inverted items were noted.
Many of the hidden items in this game are clustered together and very small. Use the magnifying glass frequently.
If you are asked to find blood stains or footprints use the UV Filter light in your inventory.
If you are using the magnifying glass there is a "+" sign in the center of the lens. Put this sign over the object you wish to choose and click the left mouse button to choose item.
You do not need to use the flashlight for any more than one hidden object screen in the game. The magnifying glass is the most useful tool.
Click on "Options" to control music and sound effect volume as well as to pause or exit the game.
If you exit the game your progress will be saved to the last level you completed. Any unfinished levels you will be required to start over from the beginning and you may be asked to find an entirely new list of items.
Each time the game is played different items will be on your hidden items list. The items in this walkthrough may vary from those asked of you in your game.

Game Elements

Achievements

The game has several achievement awards and it is a good idea to read through these before you begin the game so you can decide which ones you wish to try for.
Mystery Solver – Complete the game.
Trigger Happy – Find items withing 4 seconds.
Mini Game Master – Complete all Mini Games.
Slow and Steady – Complete the game in relaxed mode.
Always on Time – Complete the game in timed mode.
Apt Detective – Complete a level hint free.
Blink of an Eye – Complete a level in under 3 minutes.
Flawless – No miscellaneous clicking during completion of a level.
Two Thumbs up! – Complete fingerprint mini game without any mismatches.
Footprint Fetish – Complete bootprints mini game without any mismatches.
P3RF3CT – Complete the license plate Identification mini game without any mismatches.

Game Map

You will see a map such as this one between levels.
Most of the time you will be asked to choose a location between two or three possible locations. (A.)
The order you choose has no impact on the outcome of the game.
If you get stuck in one area you can click on "pause" then "map" and choose another location allowing you to come back to your current level later.
(B.) These items are always available to you through the game’s map. Click on "Old Case Files" to see what you have completed. "Achievements" to see what awards you have won so far, and "Menu" to change user profiles, adjust volumes, or exit the game.
For the walkthrough I have instructed you to choose certain locations but the order is not important to the outcome of the game as all levels must be completed before you can proceed.

Sample Hidden Object Scene

A. Database – Here you will see how many hidden objects you are to locate, how many differences to spot between scenes, or how many items to place back into their previous locations.
B. Hidden Object List – These are the items you are to locate. If the text is green these items will trigger the storyline dialogue or have some significance to the storyline.
Note that each list varies from 9 to 25 items and you can use the arrows at the top and bottom of the list to scroll through it.
C. Hint Button – Click here if you need help finding an item. The topmost item on your list will be revealed to you. The screen will turn green except a small area around the item. (See more below) Hints are unlimited and recharge between uses.
D. Timer – If you are in timed mode this is your countdown timer. Each hidden object screen gives you ten minutes to find all of the items
E. Inventory – After the tutorial level you will have four items in your inventory that you can use at any time during the hidden object scenes. Click on an item and it will change your cursor. If you want to change items or stop using it simply click on the icon in the inventory area a second time to release it.
TIP – Many items in the game are tiny and hard to see. Use the magnifying glass on these levels.
Items tend to cluster together and are hidden in logical areas.

Sample Find the Difference Scene

This is an example of a split screen you may see where you are to find the differences between them.
When you place the cursor on one item you will see a cursor on the other scene parallel to yours.
Once you find a difference click on it and it will disappear.
Note the number in the upper right hand corner so you can gauge your progress.
The differences seen are mainly items missing no color changes or turned items noted during the game.

Sample Scene – Replace Missing Items

Twice in the game you will be asked to find items and then quickly return them to their previous locations.
Find all of the items as you normally would, then when asked click on the areas those items used to be and they will return to that location.

Using the Hint Button

In this scene the hint button has been pushed and the matches are highlighted.
Click on the button and the screen will turn a bright green and a cleared area will be around the item.
Hints are unlimited and recharge between uses.
Watch the hint button and you will see it recharge as it fills up and changes color.
Hints can be used in hidden object and find the difference scenes but do not work in mini games.
Only the item at the top of the list will be revealed.

Inventory Items

After the first hidden object screen is completed you will have access to four inventory items you can use at any time in the hidden object and find the difference scenes.
The four items are the magnifying glass, UV Filter light, flashlight, and Fingerprint duster.

Magnifying Glass

This is the magnifying glass which will magnify the area several times making it easier to spot small items.
To use the magnifying glass click on it in the menu at the lower right of screen.
Note that there is a "+" sign in the center of the glass. Center it over the item you wish you choose then click the mouse button to choose the item.
Once the item is found and you are finished with the magnifying glass click on the same area you used to activate it as it toggles on and off from that location.
This tool was used the most during the game.

UV Filter Light

This tool is used to see items such as blood stains, chemicals, etc.
Click on it to activate and to release it when finished.
Once activated move your mouse around the screen carefully until you see evidence appear.
You will not be able to see these stains without the UV Filter light.
If you are asked for handprints, blood stains, or bootprints in the game it is a good idea to check the area with the UV Filter light.
Click on the areas once you find them and they will disappear.

Flashlight

Use this tool when it is too dark to see without it.
Click on it to activate and to release when finished.
The flashlight is located in the inventory menu at the lower right of the screen.

Fingerprint Duster

Use this tool when you are asked to find fingerprints in a scene.
The brush will move around the screen and dust anything you touch.
If there are fingerprints they will be bright white and easier to spot but very tiny.
Once finished click on the duster in the inventory menu to deactivate it.

Mini Games

There are several mini games and you will play each one twice.
Hints can not be used in the mini games.
If you are playing in timed mode you will be given ten minutes to complete each mini game.
Instructions for each mini game is listed below.

License Plate I.D.

In this game you are asked to look up the identity of the license plate owner.
The license plate is shown on the right side of the screen under the letter or number requested and you will see that area is highlighted.
The timer is set to approximately 5 seconds and you must identify the number or letter before the purple bar reaches the left side of the screen and disappears.
NOTE – It is critical you study the edges of the letter or number highlighted. You may be asked to find a letter "A" and there may be more than one "A" to choose from. The correct answer is the one that looks identical to the one in the highlighted window.
You must have 6 successful hits before you win the game.
If you miss as seen above it will simply take you to another screen.
There is no set number of times to miss so you must play until you win 6 times.
If you are playing in timed mode you will be given ten minutes to complete this game.

Bootprint Analysis

In this game you must successfully match the bootprint on the right side of the screen to one of the bootprints in the scene.
You are given 5 seconds to correctly identify the bootprint and if you do not make the match in time or if it is incorrect it will simply start over.
The timer is at the bottom of the screen and gives you a visual cue. Identify the bootprint before the purple bar reaches the left side of the screen then disappears.
Once you have successfully matched 6 bootprints you will win the game.
If you match all 6 with no mistakes you will win an award in the "Achievements" screen.
If you are playing in timed mode you will be given 10 minutes to complete this game.

Handwriting Analysis

In this game you are to match handwriting samples.
There are multiple documents stacked on top of each other. You can click and hold your left mouse button down to drag it to another area of the screen if you wish.
In the right side you will see a hidden item list that asks you to find certain words a certain number of times. When you find one of these words in the document click on it and it will turn red.
You will see the items disappear as you locate them.
Note that the word can be hidden inside of a larger word.
Locate all the missing words in all 5 documents to complete the handwriting analysis and the character will tell you who wrote the document.
If you are playing in timed mode you will have 10 minutes to complete this game.

Fingerprint Analysis

This game requires you to identify 6 fingerprints by matching them with the image at the right before the timer runs out.
The timer gives you approximately 5 seconds to locate the correct match.
If you are incorrect or run out of time it will start over again with a different print.
The timer is at the bottom of the screen. When the purple bar reaches the left side of the screen and disappears you are out of time.
If you are playing the game in timed mode you will be given ten minutes to complete this mini game.

WALKTHROUGH

This walkthrough will take you through the entire game showing you the solution to all puzzles and hidden object screens where possible.
NOTE – You may have a different list of items to find than what you see here but most of them will be in common.
This walkthrough was played in timed mode but you can use it for either mode.
The find the difference screens are color coded to help you locate the differences.
In areas of the game you are asked to choose a location it is indicated but it makes no difference in the outcome of the game or gameplay.

Chapter 1 – "Deception"

"Scene of Homicide"

Storyline begins and all game characters are introduced.
The game begins with the murder of "Captain Cross."
He is the person in the car accident. Click on him to proceed and the story takes you back to "2 days earlier.."

"Chase’s Apartment"

The first four items are your inventory items that will move into the menu at the lower right of the screen.
