War Machine is the latest character to blast his way onto our screens in Marvel Strike Force. But a lot of us are asking the same quest, how do you get War Machine and is there a special event dedicated to him? Well, these are good questions, so good we have answered them right here!

War Machine

War Machine, also known as James Rhodes, is a Blaster capable of inflicting massive damage to groups of enemies. As part of the Avengers team, War Machine has bonus synergy with Hero allies and his long-time friend Iron Man.

War Machine will do more damage during his ultimate depending on how many hero allies there are on your team. Meaning if you haven’t already gathered a team of Avengers, now you have a great reason to. Lastly, War Machines synergy with iron man includes a 30% bonus to Critical Damage, an extra attack to his Special Ability and the chance to gain Deathproof for both him and Iron Man on spawn.

Prelude to War

There is a special event running called ‘Prelude To War’, this event gives you the chance of earning ‘War Initiative Orb Fragments’. These fragments are an easy way to collect War Machine shards, just look for the War Initiative Orb inside the Orb section.

To open one of these orbs, you will need to amass 2,000 of the War Initiative Orb fragments, which guarantees at least two War Machine shards per pull. This may not seem like a lot, but the highest amount of shards you can get in one orb is 28. So you will need at least two orbs getting the maximum amount of shards possible to unlock War Machine, which as we all know is not likely.

Hope is not lost!

I mentioned a couple days ago that the Full Salvo Orb also has War Machine shards. In fact, this orb has the chance of dropping 180 shards in one pillar. So if you are trying to unlock War Machine, and want him to be Red Star as quick as possible, then these two orbs are your saving grace.

There are 12 days left of the Prelude to War event, and there are three difficulties to complete to maximise your amount of War Initiative Orb Fragments. I recommend being at least player level 30 to start on easy, and you need to be above level 60 to play these missions on hard.

Once you have played these missions on hard or medium, you can auto-win them on the lower difficulty. So, as long as you are above level 50, I would avoid playing on easy. It will save you time to go straight in at medium and Auto-win on the lower difficulties. The same applies for completing on hard although I wouldn’t attempt this till at least level 60.
