When playing a strategy RPG like Marvel Strike Force, one of the things you’re likely to encounter pretty quickly when discussing the game is the concept of a tier list. Unlike the rarity tiers for the heroes and villains in the game — from one to seven stars, reflecting how powerful they are now versus how powerful they can eventually become — the tier list is something different.
Put simply, it’s a quick way of determining which heroes are “better” than others. A tier list can help you determine which characters should be your priority when it comes to working on unlocking more, as well as where to spend your time and resources leveling and gearing them up.
Naturally, the devs intend for every hero and villain to be playable, so the tier list isn’t official. It’s important to remember that at the end of the day, it’s simply opinion that places different characters in different tiers. On top of that, even having five characters from the top tier doesn’t guarantee you’ll win all or even most of your battles, as constructing a team that works well together is important too. That’s one of the concepts we discussed in our general Marvel Strike Force guide for beginners.
That said, a tier list constructed by players who have spent significant time with the game can be quite useful, which is why turning to places like Reddit is the way to go. That’s probably the best place (other than planting a bug inside the FoxNext studio) to find the most passionate gamers, ones who have taken deep dives into the characters and worked together with other players to put together a resource that can help you.
In this case, we’ve turned to the redditor PaPokemon for his insight. His tier list for the current build of Marvel Strike Force looks like this:
Why are there barely any minions on the tier list? It’s because they only have two abilities instead of three, making them automatically somewhat less useful than a full-fledged hero or villain in most respects. That’s not to say they aren’t useful in certain team compositions, and in fact, Hand Sentry is so highly thought of that he makes it all the way to the top. But in general, minions are going to be outclassed by other characters in most cases.

Again, it’s all simply opinion, especially in a game that has been out a relatively short period of time like Marvel Strike Force, but we like the following characters more or less than PaPokemon’s tier list:
