Marvel Contest of Champions just received an absolutely enormous update which introduces a ton of new content and spruces up older stuff to keep the game as fresh as it was on day one.

We’ve got a brand new Battlerealm, Under Siege, Weekly Quests, Champion Updates, and a variety of other quality of life improvements.

In this guide, we’re going to break down all of the new content and everything that’s changed to help you make the most of it.

What’s the New Battlerealm and How Does It Work?

The new Battlerealm is called Under Siege and it progresses the overarching story of Marvel Contest of Champions. It involves recent addition Captain Marvel, who’s on a quest to prevent a SKRULL invasion with the help of the Summoners of the Contest. These are shape-shifting aliens who seem to be the only folk who can stop the SKRULL.

In this adventure you’ll meet, and work together with, another version of Captain Marvel and Nick Fury himself to put a stop to the invasion across a bunch of new levels.

What About the New Weekly Quests?

These are known as Nick Fury”s Recon Initiative, and task you to gather intel by taking specific champions through a variety quests on a weekly basis.

The great element thing about this new feature is that it challenges you to create a brand new team each week, using champions you might usually ignore.

It will also help you figure out great new combinations that you might not have thought about before.

Which Champions Have Been Updated and What’s Changed?

She-Hulk, Spider-Gwen, and Gamora have all received sizeable changes that completely change how they play. Please find the patch notes below:

She-Hulk:

New Fury Passives to grant much higher damage output

New Slow Debuff to prevent Unstoppable and Evade abilities from activating

Re-balanced Special Attack effects with greater utility

New and updated Synergies

Spider-Gwen:

New Trap Spider and Hunter Spider Passive Effects to increase damage output and lower the opponent’s Power Gain rate

Overhauled Evade mechanic that becomes stronger against Unblockable Special Attacks while also providing an Attack boost

Re-balanced Special Attack effects with greater utility

New and updated Synergies

Gamora:

Can now stack Fury and Cruelty Buffs by landing light and heavy attacks

New Cruelty and Fury Buffs can be refreshed with a Heavy Attack to create increasing damage potential

Re-balanced Signature Ability that can be re-used during the fight

Re-balanced Special Attack effects with greater utility

New and updated Synergies

What About These Quality of Life Improvements?

There are a bunch of changes that have been introduced to basically help you track your progress and enjoy the game more than before. These include:

The Ability to Auto-Join an Alliance:

You can now automatically join an alliance based on certain criteria. So, if you’re struggling to find an alliance that suits you, this should make it a lot easier.

More Gameplay Tips:

It’s easier to learn how to play the game now, thanks to handy question marks placed on various screens. If you’re ever stuck, just tap on one to figure out what the heck is going on.

Check Defender’s Profiles With Greater Ease:

You can now check a Defender’s profile a lot easier from the map. Now, you can just tap on a handy new icon just next to the Defender’s name. Neat!

Story Mode Progress is Easier to Check:

While viewing story quests, you’ll now see a progress bar that indicates how far you’ve progressed throughout the story.

It will also track how close you are to the next milestone and you can tap on the progress bar to see what you have to do to complete even more milestones, and what you get for doing so!

Story Mode Has a New Milestone:

Story mode now has a new milestone aimed at newer players. Once you’ve completed chapter four of the first act, you’ll earn the title of challenger. Show off.

Bugs Have Been Squished!:

The bug fixes all relate to specific character abilities. Here are the patch notes:

Iron Fist – Signature Ability description provides increased detail regarding Armor Breaks duration

Loki and Rogue – Now able to steal or replicate Heimdall’s Aptitude Buff

Thing – Added Armor Shatter Immunity info to Ability page
