Who is she to judge?

Who Is The Judge Cleric

The Judge Cleric is an NPC you will encounter at The Empyrean. Though, during her boss encounter she moves to Beacon at The Empyrean and will display two-phases during the battle. This colossal, and non-optional boss can summon a rain of radiant arrows, familiar to the Empyrean.

How To Beat The Judge Cleric

Judge Cleric is a master of evasive tactics, hit her hard, and she will come back stronger in the second phase with a clean health bar to match. There is no right or wrong way to deal with her, since each class and weapon has their own unique attribute. But things to look out for are as follows.

Sword

As mentioned, this fight is broken into multiple stages. Once thing for certain though is that her sword does immense damage at close range, and Judge Cleric can catch you off guard with critical combos. You’ll want to get familiar with the dodge-and-weave if you’re a close ranged specialist.

Beam Attack

This intense Holy Beam fires off in a straight line and can target you from any area of the battlefield. With no debris or pillars to hide behind whilst she unleashes this attack you have no option but to get out of the way. You’ll know that Judge Cleric is preparing her Holy Beam as there is a significant build up before the eventual release. The best way to dodge this attack is to wait for the perfect final second then slip out of the way, immediately jumping on the opportunity for a counter attack.

Rain Of Arrows

This attack is only an issue in her beginning phase, where she hones an AoE attack. The Rain of Arrows will highlight the area of impact before they drop into the battle field, so if you’re paying attention to where they land you can manoeuvre out of the way.

The Rain of Arrows provides two excellent windows to attack Judge Cleric. She is vulnerable for a brief moment whilst summoning the arrows, and a moment after unleashing them. You have just enough time to strike her with a strong spell or projectile, dealing good damage whilst staying out of harms way.

Phase Two

It’s unfortunate that Judge Cleric seemingly shoves all your hard efforts aside as she settles into her second and final phase, with a new health bar to pair. This phase looses the Arrow Rain AoE attack, but still has a blend of close and distanced attacks for you to weave around.

Rush Attack

This attack begins with Judge Cleric lifting into the air before rushing towards the player. There is a slim window just before impact where you can dodge out of her way and then counter the attack with your own. It’s tricky though! You’ll certainly need to brush off your dodging skills for this boss if you haven’t already by this point.

Red AoE Wave

Arguably the most difficult attack to navigate. This massive damage attack can be enough to one hit kill if she catches you off guard with it. The Red AoE Wave pulses through the battlefield making it impossible to be in any ideal position when it strikes. As with most of her attacks, if you time everything there is a rhythm to her patterns and you can dodge this smoothly before countering.

Keep Moving!

Finally, keep moving. Judge Cleric often signals what attacks she is about to unleash moments before they strike. In this time you can assess the battlefield and move out of the way. Idle standing will reduce you to being punished, as well as heavy equipment that reduces your speed.

Don’t forget to utilize any kind of loot you have gotten thus far whilst in this fight. A quick second to replenish ammunition, mana, and health could make all the difference between life and death!
